'Justified' Trying to Land 'Modern Family's' Eric Stonestreet Next Season
"Justified" is trying to coordinate schedules with "Modern Family" to recruit Emmy winner Eric Stonestreet as a bad guy next season.
"We are still looking for something for Eric Stonestreet to play, because he's a Kansas boy, and he'd like to play a bad guy," "Justified" series creator Graham Yost tells TheWrap.
"So if we can come up with something that fits in with (the 'Modern Family') schedule, of course we will … he's just great."
Yost has talked before about bringing on Stonestreet, who plays Cameron on "Modern Family," for a guest run. Villain roles on "Justified" are especially prized since Margo Martindale won a supporting actor Emmy and Jeremy Davies received an Emmy nomination for playing members of the notorious Bennett family.
"Justified" airs its season three finale tonight after another outstanding pair of guest performances from Neal McDonough and Mykelti Williamson as criminals Robert Quarles and Ellstin Limehouse.
Stonestreet is no stranger to TV drama roles, with appearances on "Crossing Jordan," "Bones," "CSI" and "Nip/Tuck," where he played a death row inmate who wanted liposuction so he would meet the weight limit required before he could be executed.
Yost also hopes to bring aboard several actors he's worked with on past projects -- including Jeff Goldblum, with whom he worked on the NBC drama "Raines." He also noted that "Luck" star Jason Gedrick is free since the show's cancellation.
"You know, if Donnie Wahlberg wasn't doing 'Blue Bloods,'" he said. "Anyone from 'Boomtown,' anyone from 'Band of Brothers,' anyone from 'The Pacific,' anyone from 'Raines' ... getting Goldblum on, that would be funny."
