Just hours ago, Junior Dos Santos reported via twitter that he was entering surgery:

"Getting prepared for my knee surgery, send me good energies and wish good lucky to me guys! Thank you" he posted on Twitter

The surgery was conducted at the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, Brasil, by Dr. Moises Cohen, one of the leading surgeons in this region.

Now MMAMania is reporting that the surgery was a success.

Cigano camp: Junior dos Santos knee surgery a success

Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos went under the knife earlier today to repair a torn meniscus suffered while training for his fight against Cain Velasquez at UFC on FOX 1.

While JDS is on the mend, he'll be tuning in to see who wins the upcoming fight between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem, scheduled for Dec. 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That's because the winner of Lesnar vs. Overeem will get first crack at Dos Santos' belt at some point in 2012, depending on the recovery process

Hopefully he isn't out for too long so that we can see a title fight between him and Lesnar/Overeem before the middle of next year.
