NWA Powerrr
Episode 1
October 8, 2019

1c2dba8b4dbe82b1-600x338.jpg

The show opens up in the NWA Arena in Atlanta, Georgia to a hot studio crowd, reminiscent of the days of yore, when WCW and other shows aired in similar studios. "N.W.A." chants are heard loudly as Joe Galli and Jim Cornette introduce us to the show, hyping up the debut of NWA Powerrr as a new era in National Wrestling Alliance history. Cornette hypes up some big matches and moments, such as Aldis/Storm III, the debut of Ricky Starks, and Allysin Kay defending the NWA Women's Championship from long-time friend Marti Belle.

nick-aldis-kamille.jpg

From the back to the interview booth (where David Marquez stands by) comes the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, "The Gold Standard" Nick Aldis and his valet, Kamille. He tells the crowd that he doesn't need to say a whole lot, but that the NWA is where the: "real wrestlers of the world have gathered to prove their worth. There are no circus acts, there is no clown show; we don't go around claiming to be the world-wide leader of professional wrestling, we don't claim to be 'entertainment'. We don't claim to be 'all-in' or 'elite'. We don't make claims; we prove our worth every damn day of our lives. Look at me, I am the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, and when one goes by the adage, 'to be the man, you have to beat the man', I am the man to beat."

"Tonight, Tim Storm gets one last chance at glory, and *if* he thinks he can beat me, he's got it. Storm knows the price of glory more than any man I've ever known; and he knows the price of failure. If Storm loses, he can no longer challenge for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship as long as I hold onto this title. But I know Storm better than any man before; he accepted this challenge... no, he demanded this challenge to prove not only to himself, not only to all these fans, but to prove to me, that Storm has a helluva lot left in the tank."
Aldis finishes up by thanking all the fans for coming to tune into NWA Powerrr tonight and hopes they come back for more exciting action in the coming weeks, before leaving.

Match #1:

Ricky Starks vs. Jocephus

The match sees Ricky Starks use his superior speed and skill to overcome Jocephus's power and brawling. Starks controls much of the match, while Jocephus would cheat to get back control of the match. The ending saw Starks make a comeback and hit a roll-up to surprise everyone with a big victory for his debut.

Winner: Ricky Starks via Pinfall

After the match, David Marquez goes to interview Ricky Starks, who comes on to tell everyone that he wanted to put the NWA on notice, that the next big thing has arrived. He tells the crowd that he's as good a lover as he is a fighter; he also mentions that everyone is looking at a future champion for the NWA.

After a commercial break, we're brought back to the interview area where David Marquez is standing with former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Tim Storm. Storm thanks the fans in the stands and at home for making this a possibility and for being a part of history tonight. He tells everyone that when Billy Corgan became the President and Owner of the NWA, he know something like this would come down the line; he says that he's incredibly honored and humbled to be a part of history as part of not only the first main event in Powerrr history, but also the first title match in the Powerrr Era. He then gets right to the task at hand, admitting:

"There's a lot on the line for me right now, if I win, I become the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion one more time; I've had that feeling before, of great accomplishment. It's an awesome feeling, I have to admit. But if I lose... I can't challenge for the title for as long as Nick Aldis holds onto it... What will happen to Tim Storm then? Well... what I do know, is that my momma taught me to be a fighter; I don't give up so easily. Nick Aldis knows I've never once given up; I fight to the bitter end. I don't believe in losing, only setbacks. When all is said and done, you're looking at the next NWA World Heavyweight Champion again."

james-storm-bp-1.jpg

Following another commercial break, we get an interview with NWA National Champion James Storm. He lets the people know that ever since he's been the National Champion, he's been proving to all the doubters and all the haters that he's still got it. He mentions that although being a champion sure is fine, he's got his eyes set on an even bigger prize. He tells the crowd that Nick Aldis is exactly who he's talking about; he mentions that Aldis has been ducking him and refusing to challenge him ever since Aldis became Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Perhaps it could be because Aldis knows he can't beat James Storm? He finishes off by saying it doesn't matter who challenges him, because the man unlucky enough to face him for the National Championship is gonna get a taste of a big, bad, boot. "Sorry about your damn luck."

~~~~
Match 2:
Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs (The Wildcards) vs. Sal Rinauro & Billy Buck
The match sees the NWA World Tag Team Champions defeat the job team of Sal Rinauro & Billy Buck in quick fashion. During the match, Joe Galli & Jim Cornette discuss the dominance that the Tag Team Champions have had during their short one-month reign. Both announcers wonder if there's any team that's ready to face off against the Wild Cards.
Winner: The Wildcards via Pinfall
~~~~

We get an interview from David Marquez with the ever-popular Rock & Roll Express, Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson. They say that there's no better place to be than here in the NWA; it's here where the real wrestlers reside. But enough about stroking egos; the Rock & Roll know that the Wild Cards have been running rough shod all over the NWA as of late since they won the NWA World Tag Team Championships, but they've yet to face the original rockers, the real "wild cards" in the Rock & Roll, and Ricky Morton promises that when the time comes, the Rock & Roll will be FIVE TIME NWA World Tag Team Champions...

~~~~
Match 3:
NWA Women's Championship
Alysin Kay vs. Marti Belle
In this match we see Alysin Kay face off against Marti Belle for the NWA Women's Championship. Belle gets a few close falls during the match but inevitably falls just short after missing her finisher and Alysin Kay applied a modified crossface to force the submission. Cornette and Galli chat regarding Kay's championship reign running upwards of 165 days; they wonder if one of Kay's close friends, Marti Belle, could be the one to end her reign the next time the two meet.
Winner: Alysin Kay by Submission
~~~~

Mr.-Anderson-1024x535.png

Following the commercial break, out comes Mr. Ken Anderson to a respectable crowd reaction. He lets everybody know that he's been itching and waiting the day that he could come and grace the crowd with his presence. He mentions that since this whole thing has started it has been missing something all along, and that thing was Anderson... Anderson. However, before he can continue any further, he's interrupted.

412a951be38528d9-1200x675.jpg

Out comes Eli Drake, clearly unimpressed with what Anderson has had to say. He and Anderson start a back and forth, with tensions rising by quite a bit. Anderson, off hand, then mentions that he'll probably end up winning a championship before Eli Drake. Drake makes a bet with Anderson and the two agree that whoever wins a championship in the NWA first gets to claim superiority over the other.

~~~~
Match 4:
NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship
Tim Storm vs. Nick Aldis (c)
We get to the main event of the evening, the last chance for Tim Storm to win the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Storm takes control in the early going, but it's only a matter of time before Nick Aldis outmaneuvers Storm and takes control. A massive spot sees Storm go for a high risk maneuver on the top rope and whiffs entirely. Aldis then controls the middle of the match, keeping Storm on the ground with submissions and rest holds. The crowd is firmly behind Storm and desperately want to see him win again. The finish of the match sees Storm nearly get the win with his finisher "The Perfect Storm", but Aldis was too close to the ropes... Storm, distraught, goes to attempt the Perfect Storm again, but Aldis somehow counters and hits his own finisher for the clean pinfall, leaving the crowd in shock and Storm unable to believe what happened when he comes to.
Following the match, Storm and Aldis shake hands and Aldis & Kamille leave Storm in the ring to himself to receive a standing ovation from the fans. The show closes on Storm in the ring contemplating the next step of his life...
Apologies for the relatively low quality of the episode, I was really struggling with a few things and writer's block was killing me.
OMB Review: I like the opening theme here gives NWA that old school feeling and I do like how the crowd is small in almost a game show like feel.
The opening promo was alright to me I like that Aldis cares about prestige but, I will be honest not being the biggest NWA fan the whole Tim Storm stuff was lost on me I feel like if you would of built it up in following episodes it would of had an bigger impact but never the less NWA Championship Match to main event is exactly what is needed.
Ricky Starks debut was good would like a little more in match detail but, writers block will do that though I do appreciate the YouTube video.
James Storm declaring Aldis is scared of him is cool to set up a feud down the road do think you need to find a little better footing in writing his promos but, all in due time.
Rock and Roll Express and I fully except you to send these guys to the moon and giving the current tag team Divsion maybe the best bet. I do feel like NWA Tag Divsion is weak but I'm sure you will bring in a few guys.
Alysin Kay being Kay without a doubt your star of the Divsion.
Anderson promo did not feel like A**hole Anderson and hope you do go more that route that said again a major player to come. I do like the idea of dummy vs. A hole.
Aldis wins and that's cool I fully excepted him to win and he is the biggest star in the company hope you do more with him and get him some good creditable foes. Storm stuff afterwards does feel like a guy at end of rope.
Overall: Solid Show had its ups and downs but, I think the first episode had enough positives to keep me intrested.
