A pair of perennially Top 10-ranked welterweights will meet at UFC 151 in September.

Josh Koscheck (17-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) and Jake Ellenberger (27-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will fight in the co-main event in Las Vegas. UFC officials Wednesday night announced the fight, saying verbal agreements between the two fighters are in place for the bout.

UFC 151 takes place Sept. 1 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The event's main card airs live on pay-per-view while FX and Facebook host preliminary-card fights. The main event is a light heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and former Strikeforce champ Dan Henderson.

Koscheck (17-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) is coming off a close split-decision loss to Johny Hendricks at UFC on FOX 3 this past May. That loss snapped a two-fight win streak for the the polarizing cast member of the inaugural edition of "The Ultimate Fighter."

"Kos" had put together back-to-back wins over Matt Hughes – a knockout with one second left in the first round at UFC 135 – and Mike Pierce, whom he beat by split decision in February. In December 2010, he lost a five-round unanimous decision to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 124 after coaching opposite the champ on "TUF 12."

The fight against Ellenberger will be Koscheck's 22nd in the UFC, which ranks him among the promotion's all-time leaders for number of fights in the company.

Ellenberger in June suffered his first loss since a split-decision defeat to Carlos Condit in his UFC debut in September 2009. After that setback, Ellenberger went on a six-fight win streak with four knockouts. The highlights of the two-plus-year run included a 53-second knockout of Jake Shields this past September and a "Fight of the Night" unanimous decision win over Diego Sanchez in February.

But in the headliner of the TUF 15 Finale, Ellenberger was caught by Martin Kampmann with a knee in the second round and put away 1:40 into the frame to snap his long streak.

Fantastic fight, two great wrestlers with dynamite in their hands. I'm a Huge Ellenberger fan, so I'm hoping he pulls this off.

I can't agree there, this is a mismatch IMO.

Kos has looked shot his last few fights, and while Ellenberger struggled a bit against Sanchez (high tempo fighter) I still expect Eberg to lay a beatdown on him.

This looks like a good fight, both like to bring it.

Got my money on Kos.
