The Canadian Press has reported that UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has pulled out of his fight with Rashad Evans. The former champion is now expected to face Phil Davis at UFC 133.

The card takes place Aug. 6 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. MMAJunkie has reported that sources claim Jones injured a ligament in his right hand and is expecting a long recovery.

Evans is now expected to face his third different opponent. He was originally set to face Mauricio “Shogunâ€￾ Rua for the UFC light heavyweight title. However, Evans pulled out of the fight with an injury. The UFC replaced Evans with his then-teammate Jones, who went on to win the championship. Evans is 15-1-1 and holds victories over three former UFC champions, Quinton “Rampageâ€￾ Jackson, Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell.

Before MMA, Davis won an NCAA wrestling championship for Penn State. He made his MMA debut back in 2008 and has quickly risen to the highest levels of the sport. In his last fight, he used a combination of wrestling a body kicks to earn a unanimous-decision victory over Pride veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
