Because fellow Jackson’s MMA teammate Rashad Evans was injured and forced out of his UFC 128 title fight with “Shogunâ€, the UFC offered Jones the shot immediately after his complete domination and second round submission of Bader. Jones accepted.
Jones’ star has risen incredibly fast. At only 23-years-old, he is already being given an opportunity most fighters never achieve. He has only been fighting professionally since 2008, but has consistently proven himself by completely obliterating every one of his UFC opponents thus far.
