Jon Fitch was expected to face Aaron Simpson Wednesday night at UFC on Fuel TV: Munoz vs. Weidman. However, issues with his knee caused Fitch to pull out of the fight.Simpson, making his welterweight debut, defeated Robertson with ease. The idea of pairing Simpson and Fitch later this year was mentioned on Twitter, and Fitch replied.


"Should be ready end of sept!" the former No. 1 contender wrote.


Fitch (23-4-1) had his long win streak snapped by a draw with BJ Penn early in 2011 before being dropped by Johny Hendricks this past December. The knockout loss to Hendricks was just the second of Fitch's career, and first since 2002.


The date Fitch mentioned would make him a target for either UFC 152 on September 22 or UFC on FUEL TV 5 on September 29.

Probably make the fight that was supposed to happen orignally this past Wednesday before Fitch got injured, Aaron Simpson vs. Fitch.
