Johnny Gargano's Contract Expiring December 3rd

Fightful learned that NXT Triple Crown Champion Johnny Gargano's WWE contract is expiring December 3, 2021. WWE sources confirmed the news with Fightful Select on Monday afternoon. Thus far, WWE sources have indicated to Fightful that Johnny Gargano and WWE have not entered into negotiations to extend his contract, but that WWE "expected to" in the Fall.

It was specified to us that this wasn't a case similar to Adam Cole and Pete Dunne where the contract coming due came as a surprise, and the company has reviewed many of the deals since those and the Malakai Black 30 day non-compete situation. It was also mentioned that roughly around the time Gargano's deal is up is when the company thought that Adam Cole's contract would expire, and the company had planned on speaking with them both ahead of that period prior to the shocker that Cole was coming due earlier.

Gargano has been with WWE since 2015, but officially signed with the company in 2016.

My hunch is that if they can come to agreement for him to stay in NXT then he signs a new deal. With him and Candice having a baby on the way i'm almost positive he aint gonna want to be travelling (if he got called up that is) so working in NXT could be ideal. Not to to mention he would be great to have around to work with the guys they see as the future.​

Yeah I have more faith with Gargano staying vs Owens I'll be pretty shocked if he were not to resign with WWE.

If he left NXT he probably honestly be better off going to MLW or Impact. He honestly be a bigger deal in one of those two places. AEW about to probably be getting real top heavy.

It's really a tough one. Candice got that YB connection and he's been liking all their tweets since they announced new nxt apparently . Doesn't really fit the mold of the new nxt they r projecting n hes not going to main roster. On the flip side he's beloved n been treated super well. But so did Cole. Gonna be a bumpy winter of free agency

Really, though, I’m not sure there’s anything left for him to do in NXT, he’d probably get ruined on the main roster, will be interesting to see his choice.

Well, guess I can't make my usual AEW joke since everyone beat me to it, but that aside I can see Johnny doing one of three things. He resigns with WWE due to stability, he goes to IMPACT or MLW, which I would prefer IMPACT because Johnny v Eddie would be great, or he does go to AEW because well...AEW.

We'll have to see how it plays out over the coming months but they're still gonna need experienced guys to work with the upcomers you would assume. If memory serves me right aswel, there was a report that came out from...SRS? that said he was set to be the top heel. I guess things might become a little more clearer on the NXT relaunch tomorrow.. Ignore that last sentence, I thought he was in the title match
