Depp would play Charles Mortdecai, an anti-hero art dealer and part time rogue who is in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.
Bonfiglioli’s books, published during the 1970s, were “Don’t Point That Thing At Me,†“Something Nasty In The Woodshed†and “After You With The Pistol.â€
Koepp previously directed Depp in “Secret Window.†He also directed “Premium Rush†and “Ghost Town†and wrote “Jurassic Park,†“Spider-Man,†“Mission: Impossible†and “Angels & Demons.â€
Eric Aronson wrote the “Mortdecai†script. Aronson’s credits include “On the Line.â€
Erik Feig, Michael Paseornek, Gillian Bohrer and James Myers will oversee the project for the studio.
Depp is represented by UTA. Koepp and Aronson are represented by CAA.
Let's hope this does better than the Lone Ranger.
