John Oliver and an army of Internet trolls managed to break the FCC's website Monday night.

On the Sunday, June 1, episode of "Last Week Tonight," Oliver issued a rallying cry to angry online commenters to "focus your indiscriminate rage in a useful direction" against the Federal Communication Commission's proposed changes to net neutrality regulations. The following day, the FCC website's comment system received so much traffic, it stopped functioning for more than two hours.

Saw his show, thought it was a brilliant bit, and I love it when people actually use shit like trolling to benefit something other than just talking about ghey cats and Justin Bieber. Swear, that is shit more effective than Occupy anything and those lazy fucks in the Guy Fawkes masks.

He nailed it saying that all the boring jargon is a big part of the public's apathy towards topics like Net Neutrality laws. Personally I think the same is true for people's attitudes towards climate change, where most people realize there's a problem but if it's not your field it's hard to wrap your head around.

As for Oliver rallying the internet trolls, brilliant! I love these extremely rare occasions where internet mobs make themselves tangibly useful.

Oliver's a really smart and funny guy. And he's British too so that's a double win!:foley:

Love satire like this, Have I Got News For You over here is another good show for that kind of thing.

DO SOME FUCKING KARATE lol. I can watch this segment all day. I love they actually got the site down, they should do this sort of thing more often.

But it's a government website is it really all that hard to break?
