Following a win over Dustin Pague at this month's The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale, John Albert (7-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will now face "The Pride of El Salvador," Ivan Menjivar (23-8 MMA, 2-1 UFC).
UFC officials today announced the two will meet at UFC on FUEL TV 1, which takes place Feb. 15 in Omaha, Neb. The 18,000-seat CenturyLink Arena is likely to host.
The Albert vs. Menjivar contest is expected to take place on the evening's preliminary card.
A member of Team Bisping, Albert advanced to the quarterfinals of "The Ultimate Fighter 14" with a submission win over Orville Smith. He then dropped a unanimous decision to eventual tournament winner John Dodson and was eliminated from the competition. However, he bounced back at the live finale, earning an impressive 69-second TKO win over Pague.
Meanwhile, Menjivar seeks his third-straight win in the octagon. The Canadian resident fought under the UFC banner in 2004, dropping a decision to Matt Serra. It would be almost seven years later before he returned to the octagon, and he has since defeated Nick Pace and Charlie Valencia.
