Jimmy Fallon is reportedly in discussions to host the 2013 Oscars in February, but ABC apparently isn't too keen on having the NBC comedian anchoring its broadcast, according to the Los Angeles Times. Though ABC, owned by Disney, expressed unhappiness over the possibility of having Fallon as host, they don't have the authority to veto the choice. That power lays with the Motion Picture Academy, which puts on the Oscars.

Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels is also reportedly in talks to produce the show. Tom Sherak, whose term as academy president ended on Tuesday, began the talks before his exit from office. When reached by the L.A. Times, Sherak confirmed he was given the greenlight to hunt down a producer two months ago, but he didn't lock down a deal before his term expired. "I couldn't meet that deadline, so I stopped all negotiations," said Sherak, who gave no comment on those he considered for the gig.

Disney declined to comment. Fallon's representatives had not yet responded to requests, and a spokesperson from the Academy denied any discussions with Fallon and Michaels.

That would be the worst idea ever. The guy screws up so many lines, he would do such a bad job.
