WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross announced that he is retiring from WWE today, after 20 years of service, to focus on his personal business endeavors.

Jim has had a long and storied career at WWE, both on the corporate staff as well as his television persona, calling some of the most memorable matches in WWE history as the voice of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown for more than two decades. He made his debut with WWE at WrestleMania IX in 1993 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 by his long-time friend “Stone Coldâ€￾ Steve Austin.

Jim has made many contributions to WWE and the sports-entertainment industry, and we thank him for his many years of service and wish him well.

Damn, truly one of the best of all time, maybe even the best. They are reports this was not his choice to retire and it was more of WWE letting him go but until I find it some place more reliable and they are more details to it I won't post them here.

Great few years as an announcer, but he's done little recently. They've successfully moved onto the new generation of announcers (minus Lawler sadly) now, so they don't have a full time need for him anymore.

I don't know if I'd say successfully the only one I like right now is JBL, Cole and Josh I don't really like, Jerry isn't the same as he use to be. I wish Matt would have stayed, he was damn good.

Well in regards to Lawler, that on air heart attack did a number on him. he cant get as hyped as he used to. Jim Ross retiring, I kind of expected that to come. They are weeding out the Attitude era remnants. Was wondering when this was going to happen. This won't be the first for Attitude era releases
