It was reported earlier that there were a lot of rumblings within the WWE of TNA star Jeff Hardy possibly returning, and according to WrestlingNewsWorld.com, Hardy could indeed be going back to the company that made him a star and he may be bringing his brother Matt with him:
Both Jeff and Matt Hardy are under contract with TNA Wrestling until February 2016. I’m not sure if that includes the entire month of February but I know that’s when their deals are up and WWE has interest in bringing them both back. Jeff has popped up on WWE’s radar a couple times since he left but officials have been really pleased with how The Dudley Boyz have done since coming back and it opened the door for the Hardys. Jeff is on record saying he would like to finish his career with WWE and it’s well-known TNA is no longer able to pay top talent like they once did.”
Although both Matt and Jeff have had their far share of personal issues since parting ways with the WWE, they both seem to have put those issues well behind them, which is likely one reason why the WWE has a renewed interest in one of the greatest tag teams of all-time.
The issue, however, is that the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestleZone) reported this week that Jeff Hardy could be undergoing knee surgery that will keep him out until late 2016, thus seemingly delaying any return for Jeff, if not the Hardys altogether. Regardless, it’s expected that the WWE will have an interesting in bringing back the brothers, especially Jeff.
Jeff just has that “it” factor that can’t be taught, and during his last WWE run, he was clearly one of the top babyfaces in the company, having finally won the WWE Championship and putting on some great feuds and matches with guys like CM Punk.
Of all the former superstars that the WWE could bring back who aren’t named Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy might be the biggest star, one who could provide the main event picture with a desperately needed babyface to fill the gap left by Daniel Bryan, Cesaro and Randy Orton.
