The moment you've been waiting for is here. James "Lights Out" Toney is apparently returning to MMA, and he'll be facing a legend of the sport. Ken Shamrock. I know it sounds a little crazy, but it really looks like it's going to happen on September 23rd in El Paso, TX. BJPenn.com reported it first:

BJPENN.COM was the first to learn that James Toney and Ken Shamrock have agreed to face off in an MMA match on Sept. 23 in El Paso, Texas.

While details are still emerging about the venue and fight card, the former UFC fighters are going to face off in a heavyweight attraction in what will be James Toney’s second professional MMA bout.

BJPENN.COM confirmed this with both Toney’s manager and Mr. Toney himself this evening via telephone.

The info has since been corroborated by boxingscene.com:

The stage is set for a legendary showdown between legendary MMA pioneer KEN SHAMROCK and 11 time World Champion boxer JAMES "LIGHTS OUT" TONEY. The showdown will take place this October in El Paso Texas and to kick off training and and an exciting press campaign there will be a public meet and greet and Face off this Saturday at the IFC GYM in Van Nuys, California.

The meet and greet will begin at 8PM, with the HBO tripleheader playing on the big screens so nobody will miss out.

There is conflicting information about the date between the two sites, but it looks legitimate. Toney dropped his only outing in MMA thus far to Randy Couture via submission at UFC 118 last year. Shamrock (28-15-2) is an 18-year MMA veteran who is 2-2 in his last four outings.
