Jake "The Snake" Roberts on Wrestling Voice Radio
Hosts: Duane Doogan & Luke Barry
WrestlingVoiceRadio.com (Jake Roberts Interview | Wrestling Voice Radio) & iTunes (iTunes - Podcasts - Wrestling Voice Radio Podcast by Wrestling Voice Radio)

Jake "The Snake" Roberts sat down today to talk to Wrestling Voice Radio, some of the highlights are below:

What it would mean to him, if he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame:
"A lot. A lot, because I did make a lot of mistakes in my career but if they would acknowledge what I did and what I accomplished by putting me in there, it would be something I could give to my Grandchildren, for everything I did right, I know I belong in there, a lot more than others that are in there but I don't care about that, the WWE was very good to me. I didn't understand a lot of things, I was not a good business man. Vince would call me say we need an idea for this and I'd give him an idea and we'd just rock and roll with it, I didn't know I'd to go in there and fight for my money and my place and the bottom line is the squeaky wheel gets the grease and I should of recognized that. I should of done the right thing and been squeaky."

Did he think when Stone Cold cut the "Austin 3:16" promo on his that it would one of the most iconic moments in history:
"Oh absolutely, I told Vince from the get-go that Steve was going to be his next super-superstar and Vince said he'd 'never be better than third or fourth match' and I said 'Vince, it will take him longer to get over, but once he gets over he will get so far above everybody else, you will not believe it!', and what happened?"

On whether he believes scripting wrestlers promos is good or bad for business:
"Nobody knows my character like me, but the problem today is these guys don't have any characters, they don't know what they are, hell, they all do the same damn thing and nobody's selling anything.

Never say anything and not do it, because you'll destroy your own credibility, most important thing about that is if you ever destroy your credibility to a fan he will never believe you again, today they're going out there and doing all this crap nobody sells anything in the ring, and the reason is these guys have not learned they're trait. In my day you had to progress, you had evolve, to change to keep your job, there's a little initiative to get you going and that's the difference."

Other topics included the inspiration behind the name DDT, working with Andre The Giant, Undertaker, Randy Savage and more as well as a pretty hectic story regarding the snake biting a referee in the eye.

You can meet Jake, this Saturday, February 11th at the Frank & Son collectible show in the City of Industry, California, signing and taking pictures alongside Roddy Piper, Bobby Heenan, One Man Gang, Missy Hyatt and many others. Go to American Icon Autographs.com for all details and ticket information.

Good interview and weird to see that Vince said he never saw Austin as a top guy and look at where he got to, easily the biggest or one of the biggest stars ever. Would like to see him be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Steve Austin Reveals Who He Wants In WWE Hall Of Fame
Steve Austin recently tweeted his thoughts on who should be in the WWE Hall of Fame:

JAKE THE SNAKE ROBERTS DEFINITELY DESERVES TO BE IN THE H.O.F. AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE. One of my fave all time workers.

This is based off of a recent interview where Jake "The Snake" Roberts talked about wanting to be in the Hall of Fame.

Dunno a lot of that interview Jake thinks highly of himself in relation to whose in the HOF. He also saw things coming. So how much truth can you take from it?

Despite his demons Jake the Snake is HOF worthy its up to the WWE to put him in hell 2005 would've been the best time to do it.

I liked his comments about scripted promos these days. It is true that so few wrestlers have an identity now and too often they are cookie cutter wrestlers.

As for him in the WWE HOF I think that he will go in eventually but he has done a lot of bad stuff in his life that will probably make Vince hesitate a bit before doing it.

Glad Austin tweeted Jake is a HOF bound. Maybe WWE will open their eyes and ask him to be an inductee sooner rather than later.

No matter how many times I read it... I can never stop rolling my eyes at all these old wrestlers and promoters who claim they knew Steve Austin was going to be the biggest fucking thing that happened in the 1990's. I'm a humongous Steve Austin fan, but nothing he did before 1996 gave that indication. Not even his whiny ECW promos, which are unbelievably overrated. The guy was really, really good in the ring before his 1997 neck injury, but it's not like that kind of thing was ever an indicator of someone's drawing ability in WWE. Ever.

However, Jake definitely deserves a spot in the HOF, even though I don't really respect WWE's HOF. But it seems to mean a lot to Jake and he definitely deserves to be honored more than a lot of people that have been inducted in recent years, there's certainly no question about that.

Just to constant drug use and the regular no-showing of events or showing up in no condition to perform. Basically very similar to the crap Scott Hall got up to.

I can believe guys who said they could see Austin being something one day since you could tell he had charisma and was pretty good in the ring but I don't believe anybody saying they saw him and thought he'd be what he ended up becoming.

As for Jake in the HOF as Troy just said I think that's why he hasn't been brought in it yet cause sadly he's been pretty much on death watch for a while with his issues. Imagine booking him for the hall and he showed up fucked up to it or didn't show at all. Would be very awkward. So while he deserves to be in it obviously I could see why they haven't brought him in.

Jake the Snake is like the real life version of Randy the Ram from the wrestler in my eyes. But I would put him in the hall, but I can also see why WWE would want to hesitate.
