10 Biggest Moments In The History Of WWE Backlash

Yesterday, Jack the Jobber of WhatCulture posted an article listing his 10 biggest moments in Backlash history, touching on subjects such as Big Show chokeslamming John Cena into a spotlight and Hulk Hogan's Undisputed Championship win over Triple H. If you wanna know more, read the article!

Do you agree? Do you disagree? Would there be any other moments in Backlash PPVs' history that you would put on your own list? Discuss below!

My own personal pick for one of my favorite moments? Seeing AJ Styles win the WWE World Championship at last year's Backlash. When I first got into wrestling in high school, my eyes were locked on the WWE and CM Punk. When I first got into TNA Wrestling, by comparison, the first wrestler I immediately had my eyes on was AJ. And now today, I'm sitting here knowing that AJ has worn both of TNA's highest main championships and WWE's world title, as well as the IWGP Heavyweight title in NJPW. But watching the former TNA and NJPW guy walk out of Backlash with the WWE title was one of the biggest moments I think I'll ever see.

My boiiiiiii Jack back with the content

As a new fan I totally agree with you, AJ was huge. Especially as it was so indicative of the way wrestling is changing, with WWE and indies building a new relationship of the indies feeding the WWE (Styles, Owens, Zayn, Joe, Rollins, Bryan, Punk etc etc etc) and to a lesser extent the reverse (Rhodes, Angle, BNB, Sandow, Galloway, in terms of star power for the indies that brings casuals to it). The fact that Mr. TNA, who then became the best in the world for NJPW won the world title and that fucking quickly was MASSIVE in terms of proving that this is how things work now, love or loathe it: indies make guys, WWE take them, give them their moments and their money (some more than others), then send them back out when they're not "in" anymore for the indies to get use out of their WWE fame. AJ may never go back out because he's too old, but others like Swann or Aries may well do.

Last year's Backlash was good and AJ Styles winning the WWE title was so great!

There were also cool moments over the years like when Show chokeslammed Cena into a spotlight at Backlash 2009, which allowed Edge to win the title.

And that Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE title involving Cena, Orton, Edge and HBK at Backlash 2007 was great.

This year's Backlash seems like a promising show, too! Styles and Owens will steal the show.
