One year ago, MVP was drafted to Monday Night Raw. There he challenged the likes of Randy Orton and many others. His first few weeks on Raw were good and all his fans were hopeful that this run could turn him into a main eventer. However, It didn't. He's been on a downward spiral and he's moved back to Smackdown in a worse shape than he was before.

Personally, I was a big fan of his heel run in 2006/07. I liked how JBL got on his back and claimed he was "Half man, Half amazing & Half tag-team champion!" and "He's the fed-ex of WWE, He delivers". I would love to see another heel run but that's not the point of this thread. Do you think MVP is destined to be in the mid-card level? Do you think WWE will ever let him be in a main event match at a PPV?

I hope so because he does have talent. I just don't see WWE giving him a shot in the main event. A few years ago, MVP was a great character who wrestled good matches. Now he's wrestling on Superstars (Albeit, Good matches.. But still...) against the likes of Chavo. He was once (imo) the most promising young star on Smackdown.

Discuss.

MVP's chance for a push is gone. He had the window open following his US Title reign, but for whatever reason he was instead destined to job for awhile. Whether or not that's due to the drug rumours I'm not sure, but really, it's irrelevant now, because what's going to stop MVP from ever getting a push is the current youth movement. While MVP may be a relatively fresh face on the scene, and has been around for approximately the same time as guys who are getting featured a little more heavily, like Cody Rhodes, MVP is nearing his 40s, pretty much meaning he's too old for the youth movement. It makes sense too - why would WWE push MVP when they can't just as easily push someone younger who will likely be around for longer? While MVP may be reasonably talented on the stick, there's a lot of other guys who are too, and with his age I can't see him ever rising from the midcard. I don't mind that either, because there's a lot of guys I would rather see pushed right now.

I've never really seen anything from him that made me go "this guy is absolutely amazing". His program with Benoit was good but that was 4 or 5 years ago. Quite frankly, I think if he gets another transitional midcard title reign, he'll be doing okay. Not everyone is destined to be a main eventer. And most have careers without winning gold at all.

I'm really disappointed at the state that MVP is at now. I was actually excited that he was going back to SD cause that's where he shined the past during his previous run. :smh He has to be in the top 3 biggest miss-ships/ fuck ups with in the past 5 years. Maybe more. He's reduced to wrestling on Superstars now. I know the guy is getting older, but I still don't think that's a reason to just by pass someone with that kind of talent.

Answering the thread question, no he WASN'T destined to not get in the main event. But his ship has sailed and it ain't coming back.

It's sad when the coolest aspect of the guy was JBL's commentary on him. He won't be main eventing anytime soon, and specially not as a face.

They killed his character by turning him face. That doesn't work with his gimmick of an overpaid, cocky, thinks he is better than everyone, wrestler. He should still be portraying that character. I know he would be alot better than what he is now.

They killed him by letting him in a tag team with Mark Henry that went no where. If the WWE wants to push black stars, MVP should be where Kofi's at right now. Sure he is getting older, but he deserves a chance.

MVP's chance for a push isn't gone and his spot on the roster isn't the brightest right now. However anybody can bounce back and unfortunately for MVP, on Smackdown they're pushing Kane, Punk, Swagger and McIntyre as the top heels and there just isn't room for him as a heel right now. WWE knows this. Put MVP as a face and when the time is right they'll turn him heel too, which they know he works better as in the first place.

Maybe even worse on Smackdown is how the mid-card faces just blend together between him, Matt Hardy and Christian.

I do however have hope that MVP will be just fine as he still has plenty to offer.

I feel that MVP, like previously stated will never be a world champion in the WWE. WHich is pretty sad, because back in 2007 he was arguably the best heel in the WWE next to Edge. His feud with Matt Hardy was imo the only reason to watch Smackdown in the Summer of 2007. I feel that with the lack of legit faces on Smackdown he could slide into an upper card face (even though he is wayyy better as a heel) role. I honestly thought that upon returning to Smackdown and teaming with Rey a feud with the SES was in the works, but much like with Orton, nothing came of it. He still has quite a bit he could offer to the younger talent, much like Christian or Matt Hardy, but sadly he is just lost in the shuffle.

Have yet to see him "back on SD".

Yeah, as BKB says... He's fucked largely cos of his age and the fact that WWE have finally got their eyes on the future with all the young guys getting screen time... (IMO at least) He should have been challenging HHH when he had that god awful run on WWE title run on SD being challenged by Khali & Koslov... Maybe he wouldn't have cemented a main event spot, but at that juncture he certainly had proven to be a viable prospect (Sadly that was the era when pretty much only Jeff Hardy was being given any kind of steam). Not long after came the rumours of punishment stemming from him mocking the guy that does the piss-tests. Then came the shitty losing streak angle that was the death of him.

He's proven on numnerous occasions that when given a chance he can stand toe-to-toe with anyone on the mic, but unlike Miz, he really hasn't shown much improvement in his ring work given he's been with the company for 5 years.
