IPW Wednesday Night Overdrive
Denver, Colorado
Pepsi Center
18th June 2012

“Never Take Us Alive†by Madina Lake plays over the PA system as Wednesday Night Overdrive comes on air. Josh Mathews and William Regal welcome everyone to the very first edition of the new show as the camera circles the sold out arena in Denver. Soon, familiar music hits the speakers…

“I’m All Grown Up…â€

There’s a huge pop from the crowd as the owner of IPW - Steph McMahon steps out and down the ramp. She climbs into the ring with a grin on her face and grabs a microphone. She welcomes everyone to the show and begins by saying that IPW will be a new, refreshing experience for all wrestling fans, assuring that unlike her father’s company, IPW will listen to its fans. She tells the audience that IPW’s flagship show, Overdrive, will be taken care of and the new GM is expected to arrive later tonight. Steph hopes everyone enjoys the show and then leaves the ring. Josh and Regal begin to discuss who the new General Manager could be before The Motor City Machine Guns’ music hits. The pair comes out to a cheer from the crowd as they jump into the ring. Soon, their opponents, Johnny Curtis and AJ Styles are out and ready to fight.

--------------------

The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Johnny Curtis & AJ Styles

This was a very close match with some great back and forth action to kick off the show. Mid way through the match, AJ managed to hit a diving elbow on Shelley before going for the three count. A kick out at two got AJ confused and after landing a neckbreaker and going for another pin, Shelley kicked out again. By now, Johnny was screaming for the tag and as AJ got him in, Shelley made a hot-tag to Sabin, who came in and caught Johnny off guard. He nailed him with a Cradle Shock before laying Curtis out for the three count.

Winners: The Motor City Machine Guns in 3:39

--------------------

As the bell goes, Alex and Chris roll out and begin to celebrate the first ever win on Overdrive. AJ looks down at Curtis as he starts to recover. He shouts at Johnny, blaming him for loosing the match. AJ drags Curtis to his feet and looks like he is attending to him. But suddenly, he lashes out and nails him with the Styles Clash. Johnny lays motionless on the mat as AJ looks down on him. The crowd boos Styles as Overdrive goes to a commercial break.

--Commercial Break—

We return with Josh and Regal talking about Styles’ attack on Johnny Curtis, before showing a little replay. We are then told that Steph has a message in the back for us.

Stephanie stands alone in the shot. She says that the new GM has just informed her that tonight’s main event will be a fatal four-way match. “It will involve Triple H, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton and Kane, and it will be for the IPW World Championship!†There is a huge cheer from the crowd at this announcement.

Matt Striker is with AJ Styles. He asks what the sudden attack on Johnny Curtis was about. AJ has a sadistic grin on his face as he says that he was here to make a mark in this company, and he is going to work his way up to the top. “I was a star in TNA and the same is going to happen here and no one is going to stop me. Not the fans, not this new general manager and especially not Johnny frikkin Curtis!†With that, Styles walks away.

Back in the area, Josh informs us that we now have some singles action!

“These Words Are True And I’ll Make You Believe!â€

Sheamus receives a great reception as “The Celtic Warrior†walks down the ramp. He signs an autograph for a young fan before jumping into the ring. A few minutes later and his opponent, Heath Slater has joined him and we’re ready for the second bout of the night.

--------------------

Sheamus vs. Heath Slater

This was possibly the easiest match of Sheamus’ career. Heath showed no signs of gaining the upper hand and the man from Ireland finished Slater off in under a minute with a brutal Celtic Cross.

Winner: Sheamus in 0:53

--------------------

“An impressive victory for Sheamus here tonight!†comments Mathews as ‘The Celtic Warrior’ celebrates his win. “Indeed Josh, I know there is a lot to come from Sheamus and I predict a bright future for him here in IPW!†says Regal as we cut backstage.

Randy Orton is in his locker room, preparing for the main event tonight. The door opens and Randy looks up before promptly getting to his feet to reveal former Legacy teammate Cody Rhodes. The two men stare each other out before Cody speaks. “Randy, just so you know – no favors coming from me tonight, I know we have history, but I’m doing this one alone†Randy smiles slightly and nods. Cody goes to leave but Randy grabs his arm. “Cody, ‘Mania twenty six…†Cody shrugs Randy off before leaving the room.

--Commercial Break—

“Just before the break there we saw Randy Orton referencing WrestleMania 26, where back in WWE he defeated both Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase in a triple threat match, we’ll see them meet in the ring later tonight!†Josh and Regal then go onto discussing the General Manager. They remind viewers that only Stephanie McMahon knows who has been given the role and that they were told in the commercial break that he is almost here.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are in the back discussing their victory over AJ Styles and Johnny Curtis. Robert Roode appears and tells them that were some nice stuff the pair showed. “But gentlemen, I could beat both of you too easily†Annoyed by this, Chris steps up and challenges Roode to a match next week. Robert accepts and laughs as he walks away.

In the ring, Ted DiBiase is waiting for his opponent.

“I Don’t Care What You Think Of Me…â€

There’s a mixed reaction for Wade Barrett and he flexes his muscles on the way down to the ring. Barrett looks across at Ted and the pair lock up as the bell rings.

--------------------

Ted DiBiase vs. Wade Barrett

A great match between two evenly matched opponents. Both men gained the upper hand at different points, with Ted using his cunning and Barrett using his power to give a really interesting match up. Ted almost had it with a Dream Street, but Wade managed to kick out after two. A Barrett big boot almost won it for Wade, but Ted managed to grab the ropes before the ref hit three. As the match neared the 10-minute mark, both men really began to tire. Barrett managed to drag DiBiase to his feet and throw him across the ropes, as he came back Barrett connected with a clothesline but at the same time Ted hit a high knee. Both men were laid out on the mat as the referee made his way to ten.

Winner: No Contest in 11:28

--------------------

--Commercial Break—

A quick highlight package is show from the DiBiase/Barrett match before Josh and Regal discuss it. Steph is then again shown on the screen, and she states that the GM would like to see a rematch between the two men next week on Overdrive. There’s a small cheer from the crowd as we cut backstage.

Johnny Curtis is in the back with SoCal Val. Val asks for his thoughts on AJ Styles’ earlier attack on him. Understandably pissed off, Johnny goes off on one – saying how he might be only young and new to the business, but here everyone is on a clean slate, what AJ did in TNA counts for nothing here in IPW. “AJ buddy, watch your back†and with this Johnny leaves.

There’s a short video package hyping tonight’s fatal four way main event for the IPW Championship before Josh informs us that some more singles action is coming up!

--Commercial Break—

“YES! YES! YES!â€

There’s a mixed reaction from the crowd as Daniel Bryan steps out looking determined. He slowly makes his way down to the ring and climbs over the top rope and gets into the ring. He turns to face the ramp and waits for his opponent.

“Misterrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Kennedyyyyyyyy!â€

Ken Kennedy steps out to a massive pop from the crowd. He plays them with a cocky smile on his face as he strolls down the ramp. He stares at Bryan as he climbs into the ring, sizing up his opponent. After he does his own microphone introduction, the men prepare to lock up as the referee rings the bell.

--------------------

Daniel Bryan vs. Mr. Kennedy

The match began with some nice technical action. Slowly but surely, Kennedy began to ware down Bryan. Ken was in full control as he hit DB with a Mic Check. A groggy Bryan didn’t give in and kicked out at two and a frustrated Kennedy picked him up and tried to finish him with the Green Bay Plunge, but after another pin Bryan kicked out at two and a half. Suddenly, the referee began to be distracted by a fan. Whilst both the ref and Kennedy were distracted, Bryan managed to get to his feet and nail Ken with some brass knuckles. The ref turned around to see Bryan locking Kennedy into the Yes Lock, with him tapping out moments later.

Winner: Daniel Bryan in 7:02

--------------------

Daniel begins to celebrate and there’s a boo from the crowd. Daniel helps the fan that was distracting the referee over the barrier. The fan takes off a baseball cap and it turns out to be Paul Heyman! Heyman celebrates with Bryan as we cut backstage.

Kane is in the back with Matt Striker. He says that tonight a new era of wrestling starts with a new champion. He says that he was in the darkness for ages in WWE and now IPW is his opportunity to destruct and dominate. Kane is just about to say something else when Triple H comes into the shot. Hunter tells Kane to ‘shut his face’ because everyone knows that he will win the IPW Championship tonight, HHH says that he will power his way through Kane, Orton and Rhodes in order to become a fourteen-time world champion. Cody Rhodes now comes in and looks at Hunter and Kane in disgust. He says that his father is a wrestling legend, and soon he will be too. Cody says that International Pro Wrestling and the new General Manager sees, just like everyone else, that he is the face of the new company and as champion he will make the company great. Randy Orton now enters and just looks at the other three men without a word. The four men stare each other out at the camera fades.

--Commercial Break--

It’s time for the main event and Stephanie has joined Josh and Regal at ringside. The IPW Championship sits at the top of the entrance ramp, soon to be in the hands of one of the four men.

“I Hear Voices In My Head…â€

The crowd goes absolutely crazy as Randy Orton steps out onto the stage. He takes a moment to look at the belt before making his way down to the ring. He gets into the ring and jumps up onto the turnbuckle before doing his signature pose. The crowd gives a mixed reaction for Kane as he comes out with his mask and fire. He walks down to the ring before climbing in and staring out Orton. Third to the ring is Cody Rhodes, and he receives a negative reception. Cody goes over to the belt and points at it before pointing at himself. With a cocky smile on his face he jumps into the ring.

“Time To Play The Game!â€

Triple H has a great reaction from the audience as he comes out. He sips his water on the way down to the ring before climbing over the top rope and taking the last remaining corner of the ring. Each of the four men stare each other out as the referee goes for the bell.

--------------------

IPW Championship
Randy Orton vs. Kane vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Triple H

The bell goes and straight away Orton and HHH both go for Kane. Using this to his advantage, Cody stays out of the fight. The pair beat down Kane into the corner before Triple H picks him up and throws him back down to the mat with a flowing DDT. Hunter and Orton then turn their attention to Rhodes and once again they do the same, taking him down in the corner of the ring, this time Orton sends Cody to the floor with a European uppercut. With both Kane and Rhodes down, the two men still standing turn their attention to each other and they instantly start to exchange punches. HHH slowly gains the upper hand and nails Orton with a spinebuster! As the last man standing, Triple H goes for a cover on Orton. As the ref reaches two, Kane comes up from behind and breaks it up. As HHH is getting to his feet, Kane begins to hurl punches at him. ‘The Big Red Machine’ tries to send Hunter down with a big boot but it doesn’t faze him. After the third big boot from Kane, the King of Kings falls to the mat and Kane instantly goes for the pin. This time it’s Cody who breaks it up. Cody drags Kane to his feet and sends him across the ropes. As Kane comes back he crashes into Cody and both men fall to the floor. As it stands, all four men are on the mat. Overdrive goes commercial for a few minutes.

--Commercial Break--

As we come back, we see Cody Rhodes and Triple H brawling on one side of the ring, whilst Randy Orton and Kane are on the other. Later on, Triple H throws Cody against the ropes and catches him with a clothesline on his way back. Randy is setting up for an RKO on Kane, but spots HHH going to cover Rhodes and stops him. Randy turns around just in time to see Kane running in with an elbow. Randy ducks and Kane nails The Game. The huge impact sends Triple H toppling out of the ring, with Kane following. In the ring, Cody and Randy begin to fight whilst on the outside Kane goes to throw HHH against the steel steps but Hunter reverses it and sends Kane crashing into them. Cody manages to fight off Randy for a moment and jumps out the ring. He finds the power to lift the steel stairs and knock Triple H down with them. He then climbs back into the ring and slowly gets Randy too his feet. With Cody in full control of the match, he hits Randy with the Silver Spoon DDT. He then sets up for the Cross Rhodes and as he goes for it…BAM! RKO from Orton! The crowd go wild as Orton quickly covers Cody and 1…2…3!

Winner: Randy Orton in 14:04 (NEW IPW Champion)

--------------------

The crowd goes nuts as Randy gets to his feet and begins to celebrate. The bodies of Triple H, Kane and Cody Rhodes are spread across the mat and floor as Stephanie McMahon presents Orton with his belt. Orton lifts it high in the air to a huge pop from the crowd. Steph grabs a microphone. “Congratulations Randy! Now, ladies and gentlemen, he has arrived! Let me present to you, the NEW Overdrive General Manager!â€

There’s a short silence, but then the all to familiar cowbells begin and the patriotic music begins to play. A white limo pulls onto the side of the stage and out steps…JBL! John “Bradshaw†Layfield has a cocky smile on his face and he begins to clap Randy, who lifts his belt high in the air as Overdrive goes off air.

Overdrive Fallout

It was a crazy first edition of IPW Wednesday Night Overdrive, here are some of the highlights and news from the show...

JBL.jpg

John 'Bradshaw' Layfield was named first Overdrive GM last week. He stated that he was looking forward to working with the IPW roster and crew and senses big things to come from some of the superstars. Steph referred to Layfield as having bags of experience in the business and the top man for the job. JBL was last seen on WWE TV in March 2011. His last match for the company was at WrestleMania 25, where he lost to Rey Mysterio in twenty-one seconds.

Ted_DiBiase_Jr.jpg
Wade_Barrett.jpg

A winner couldn't be decided between Ted DiBiase and Wade Barrett, as the two men fought to a draw. By orders of JBL, the pair will have a re-match this Wednesday.

daniel_bryan-1.jpg
Paul_Heyman2.jpg

Paul Heyman was in the crowd and assisted Daniel Bryan by distracting the referee, allowing him to pick up a win against Mr. Kennedy. A clear alliance has been made between the two, with Heyman confirmed as Bryan's new manager and mentor.

AJ_Styles.jpg
Johnny_Curtis2.jpg

In the opening match, the team of AJ Styles and Johnny Curtis lost to The Motor City Machine Guns. IPW staff were hoping to have AJ as a kind of mentor for Curtis, putting them together on shows. This soon backfired as AJ attacked Johnny shortly after the match. Styles talked to Matt Striker afterwards, saying he was going to be a star in IPW and no one would stop him. Later in the evening Johnny Curtis spoke to SoCal Val. Johnny told AJ to 'watch his back'.

Randy_Orton.jpg

Randy Orton was crowned first ever IPW Champion, defeating Cody Rhodes, Triple H and Kane to win the gold. 'The Viper' pulled of a great display and is sure to celebrate his victory this week on Overdrive. Tune in on Wednesday for more IPW action!

25th June 2012

Overdrive comes on air once again to the familiar “Never Take Us Aliveâ€. We have another sold out show in Albuquerque and things are kicked off with a highlight package from last weeks main event, which saw Randy Orton becoming the first ever IPW Champion after defeating Cody Rhodes, Triple H and Kane in a fatal four way match. The end of the package shows John “Bradshaw†Layfield being unveiled as the new Overdrive GM. Josh Mathews and William Regal welcome everyone to the show.

“I Hear Voices In My Head…â€

There’s a huge pop from the crowd as the new IPW Champion steps out into the arena. Randy Orton has his title draped over his shoulder as he makes his way down the ramp and into the ring. He holds the world title above his head for a few moments before grabbing a microphone. He thanks everyone for the support last week and the reaction from the New Mexico crowd. He goes onto say that with JBL and himself; the Overdrive show will become the number one wrestling show on TV. There’s a cheer from the crowd as Randy holds the belt high in the air once again. He goes to say something but is interrupted by “Smoke and Mirrorsâ€. Cody Rhodes strolls out with a microphone and says that everyone knows he should be the champion and that it was a fluke that Randy won the match. The crowd boos as Cody goes onto say he’s demanding a title match from JBL and that Randy would soon be back where he belongs – in the trash. Now, Kane comes out. He says that the title would have been his, if it weren’t for that waste of space Triple H, who’s way past his time. He says that both Cody and Randy are simply pawns in IPW, and ‘The Big Red Monster’ is the face of the company. He says if JBL should give a shot to anyone then it should clearly be him. With this, Triple H comes marching out. He confronts Kane, questioning the “waste of space†and “past his time†comments. All four men look like they are about to brawl when suddenly…

“DING DING DING DING DING DING…â€

The new Overdrive GM strolls out onto the stage. There’s a mixed reaction for JBL as he removes his cowboy hat. Angrily, he tells the four men that HE is now in charge of the show, so they can’t go round complaining and throwing around their weight like this. “You can’t come in here and demand matches! So that’s why, tonight’s main event will be a tag team match! The team of Cody Rhodes and Kane will take on Triple H and the IPW Champion Randy Orton!†There’s a massive cheer from the crowd on the prospect of this match. JBL smiles as the four men continue to look at each other.

--Commercial Break--

We’re back and a short video package of last week’s events between AJ Styles and Johnny Curtis is shown, highlighting Styles attacking Curtis after their loss to the Machine Guns. Cutting back into the arena, Johnny Curtis is standing in the ring.

“You Are, You Are, I Am, I Amâ€

The crowd boos as AJ Styles comes out, taunting the crowd. He walks down the entrance ramp and climbs into the ring, looking dead straight at Curtis. The ref rings the bell and tonight’s first match gets underway.

--------------------

Johnny Curtis vs. AJ Styles

The crowd was totally behind Curtis for this one. But Styles didn’t let this affect him as both men brought their a-game to the ring. AJ got an early upper hand and tried to slowly beat down Johnny. A number of moves were hit on Curtis as it looked to be one-way traffic. AJ attempted to finish things off as he set up for the Styles Clash, but suddenly Curtis reversed it and sent AJ down to the mat with a quick DDT. Then, he ran against the ropes and nailed Styles with a Maine Jam.

Winner: Johnny Curtis in 4:52

--------------------

Johnny jumps up and begins to celebrate his surprise win. He jumps up on the turnbuckle as the crowd cheer him. As he jumps back down and turns around Styles is there with a chair! AJ hits Curtis a few times with the chair before picking him up and landing a Styles Clash with Curtis’ head clattering onto the chair. AJ stands over the fallen body of Johnny with a crazy smile on his face. The crowd boos as Overdrive goes commercial.

--Commercial Break—

We return to see IPW medical personnel escorting Johnny Curtis from the ring. Josh reminds us of AJ’s attack and then he and Regal go onto talk about tonight’s tag team main event. We now cut backstage.

SoCal Val is in the back with Daniel Bryan and Paul Heyman. SoCal welcomes the Heyman to the company, but asks why he’s here. Heyman says that he has come to help Daniel Bryan achieve greatness. “Last week Daniel beat Mr. Kennedy, and the same will happen again tonight when he faces Ryback!†Daniel then comes up and says that the IPW Universe will soon see him with gold around his waist, just like in every promotion he’s worked for. He smiles before leaving with his new manager.

Back out front, Regal says how the Universe is divided on opinion about Daniel Bryan; some love him for his ‘YES!’ chant, whilst some hate him due to his attitude. “Well William, he’s up next in singles action against Ryback, so lets see if Daniel can keep this momentum up after his controversial win against Ken Kennedy last week!†As Josh finishes saying this, Ryback’s music hits the arena.

The crowd cheers Ryback as his walks out onto the stage. He climbs slowly into the ring and gets up on a turnbuckle, looking around the arena. He gets back down and faces the entrance ramp, waiting for his opponent.

“YES! YES! YES!â€

Daniel Bryan steps out with his new mentor to a mixed reaction from the crowd. He comes down the ramp, eyes fixed on Ryback, sizing him up. Heyman takes up his place at ringside as Daniel and Ryback lock up.

--------------------

Ryback vs. Daniel Bryan w/Paul Heyman

This was another good showing from Daniel, who seemed to be on a roll after last weeks win. With the backing of Heyman, he worked to get the upper hand, many a time locking Ryback into various submissions, but every time Ryback managed to grab the ropes to break it up. After some more back and forth action, Ryback began to regain control and showed his physical advantage by taking Bryan down with a number of slams. After a massive clothesline, Ryback covered DB, only for Paul Heyman to begin to distract the referee. Whilst the ref’s attention was diverted, Bryan pulled out a set of brass knuckles, just like last week, and nailed Ryback around the cheek with them before making the cover.

Winner: Daniel Bryan in 7:17

--------------------

“Another victory from Daniel Bryan, with help from the brass knuckles once again!†remarks Josh as Daniel and Paul begin to celebrate in the ring. “The lad is crafty, picking up a win against Mr. Kennedy with the same tactics last week!†says Regal. Suddenly, Mr. Kennedy runs down the ramp and goes for Bryan. Swiftly, Bryan jumps out of the ring and heads up the ramp along with Heyman. Kennedy looks pissed as he begins to attend to Ryback.

--Commercial Break—

Josh welcomes us back to Overdrive, with news that JBL has just announced that next week on the show we will see a tag-team match, with Mr. Kennedy and Ryback teaming up against Daniel Bryan and a partner of his choice!

Matt Striker is in the back with Cody Rhodes. He asks Cody why he believes that he is the true Number 1 Contender to the IPW Championship. Cody scowls at Matt and simply says: “Striker, do I really have to answer that?†With this, Cody walks away.

Josh and William remind us of the little run-in the Machine Guns had with Robert Roode last week, and that Chris Sabin will be taking him on next! The also inform us that still to come tonight is a re-match from last week of Wade Barrett vs. Ted DiBiase and our main event; Randy Orton and Triple H vs. Cody Rhodes and Kane.

We cut to the ring; Chris Sabin is there with Alex Shelley, ready for his singles match.

“Beer…..Money!â€

Robert Roode strolls out with a cocky smile on his face to a negative reception. Behind him is his partner in crime, James Storm. The two men walk down to the ring, Storm with a beer bottle in hand. Storm and Shelley place themselves outside the ring as Sabin and Roode face off.

--------------------

Chris Sabin w/Alex Shelley vs. Robert Roode w/James Storm

This match could have gone either way. Sabin used his technical ability to attempt the win, whilst Roode used every dirty trick in the book. Storm distracted the referee at various points. As frustrating as this was, Sabin carried on fighting and let Shelley deal with Storm. Later on, after a Cradle Shock, Sabin covered Roode only for a kick out at two. Just as this happened, on the outside Storm nailed Shelley with a beer bottle, before rolling into the ring and doing the same to Sabin. Immediately the referee called for the bell.

Winner: Chris Sabin in 6:36 (via DQ)

--------------------

Storm begins to put the boots to Sabin, whilst Roode gets up and chucks Shelley into the ring. The crowd boo ferociously as Roode and Storm first pick up Alex Shelley and nail him with their ‘Drinking While Investing’ double move, before doing the exact same to Chris Sabin, leaving both of the Machine Gunners flat out on the floor. Beer Money go to leave the ring accompanied by lots of heat.

SoCal is standing with ‘The Celtic Warrior’, Sheamus. She congratulates him on his impressive win last week over Heath Slater. He thanks her, and goes onto say: “Well there’s a new era here under JBL, so if I wanna make an impression, then this fella here had better keep bringing out performances like last week.†Sheamus has a massive grin on his face, but it is wiped away when Wade Barrett comes into shot. Barrett says that JBL doesn’t care about Sheamus, and it’s clear because he’s not on tonight’s card. “Whilst I have a match for the second week in a row. Last week me and Ted DiBiase went to a draw and I can assure you tonight the same won’t happen.†Sheamus shakes his head at Barrett as the camera fades away.

Triple H is in his locker room, preparing for tonight’s main event. There’s a pop for him, which increases when the IPW Champion, Randy Orton, comes into the room. Neither man say a word, but they both nod and shake hands. A promo then airs for tonight’s tag team main event – Randy Orton and Triple H verses Cody Rhodes and Kane.

--Commercial Break—

Wade Barrett has made his way to the ring, and stands facing the ramp waiting for Ted DiBiase.

“I Come From Money, I Come From Class…â€

There’s a mixed reaction for Ted as he walks down the ramp and slides into the ring. As he gets in he looks across at Wade. The crowd seems hyped to see a rematch after these two fought to a double count out last week on Overdrive. The bell rings and the pair begin to circle the ring.

--------------------

Wade Barrett vs. Ted DiBiase

In another solid match between the two, Wade had the upper hand to start with. A backbreaker from Barrett saw him get a two count before DiBiase kicked out. Barrett picked DiBiase up and threw him against the ropes, looking for a neckbreaker, but DiBiase reversed with a high knee. Ted now had control and managed to pull out a Dream Street, but again there was a kick out. The match went on, and once again neared the 10-minute mark. DiBiase Irish whipped Wade against the ropes and bounced off the ropes himself. As the two men met they both nailed each other with clotheslines! As both men fell to the mat with shoulders down, each man had an arm on the others chest. The referee had no choice but to give them both a three count.

Winner: Draw in 10:20 (Double Pin)

--------------------

“And for the second week in a row, a winner isn’t determined from these two men!†says Josh as Wade and Ted both slowly get back to their feet. “I don’t know if we’ll ever see who is the better man!†says Regal. The two men stare at each other as the camera slowly fades away.

JBL is in his office with Matt Striker. The Overdrive GM says that with IPW’s first pay-per-view coming up soon – Beach Brawl – and matches must be booked. In the coming weeks on Overdrive, he will put a great card together. There’s a pop from the crowd as JBL turns to his monitor to watch the main event.

“Whoaa Oh, You’re Only Smoke And Mirrors…â€

The crowd boos as Cody Rhodes walks out. He seems focused as he taunts the crowd before sliding into the ring. The arena lights then go dark and suddenly massive red flames go off. Kane eerily makes his way down to the ring. The giant steps over the top rope, and sets off the flames around the ring before removing his over-mask. He looks down at Cody just before Triple H’s music hits. “The Game†gets a great reception from the crowd as he walks down to the ring. His eyes seem to be fixed on Kane after their confrontation earlier on the show. Hunter poses for the crowd momentarily before awaiting the arrival of his tag partner.

“I Hear Voices In My Head…â€

The fans go nuts as the IPW Champion slowly comes out. Randy looks around the arena before taking his time walking down the ramp. The world title is draped over his shoulder as he gets into the ring and pulls himself up onto the turnbuckle. He holds the belt high in the air before climbing back down. The referee takes his belt as the main event gets started.

--------------------

Cody Rhodes & Kane vs. Triple H & Randy Orton

Cody and Hunter start the match off, with HHH quickly getting the upper hand. Cody’s beat down continues as Triple H uses a mixture of knee combinations and DDTs in order to pick up the win. At one point, Kane tries to get involved and help out his tag-partner, but he’s met by a running clothesline from Hunter and falls down to the ground outside the ring. After a chop block to Cody, The Game goes for the pin but Cody kicks out at two. HHH then tags in the IPW Champion and Randy begins work on Cody, dragging him to his feet and sending him back down with an European uppercut. Randy picks him back up and walks into the corner, looking for a RKO, but a big boot from Kane meets him and he falls to the mat. Slowly, Cody gets to his feet, picks up Randy and hits him with a Disaster Kick before going for a cover. Orton kicks out and the match continues. Cody and Kane are in full control, making sure Orton is kept away from Triple H’s corner. As the beat-down goes on, Triple H tries to interfere with the match but the referee stops him. As the ref is dealing with HHH, Kane begins to choke Randy with the ring ropes. Whilst this is happening Cody taunts Hunter but as he turns around he is suddenly met by a mass of punches from Randy. Randy then nails Cody with a rope-hung DDT before tagging in Triple H. Hunter comes in like a house on fire and totally dominates Cody, catching him with a spinning spinebuster before slowly picking him up and nailing him with a Pedigree! Just as he goes to cover Cody, the referee is distracted as Kane drags Randy off of the apron. Whilst the referee is attending to the IPW Champion, Kane slides into the ring and smacks Triple H with a steel chair. He then drags Cody’s body onto HHH as the referee turns around and makes the three-count.

Winners: Cody Rhodes & Kane in 13:39

--------------------

Kane looks down at Triple H as the blood begins to slowly pour from his forehead. By this time, Cody is up and has dragged Orton into the ring. He picks the groggy Orton up and hits him with a Cross Rhodes. The crowd boos as Kane and Rhodes stand over the fallen bodies of Triple H and Randy Orton. Cody laughs as Kane sets off more fire pyros just as Overdrive goes off air.

A short video package airs highlighting last week’s main event, which ended with Cody Rhodes and Kane beating down the IPW Champion Randy Orton and Triple H. The usual intro then plays as Josh Mathews and William Regal welcome everyone once again to Wednesday Night Overdrive. Josh speaks - “We’ve got a great show for you tonight ladies and gentlemen - as announced earlier in the week, tonight’s main event will see Triple H taking on Cody Rhodes!â€￾ We are then told that the first match is about to get underway.

“Somebody Call Ma Momma!â€￾

The crowd goes absolutely wild as the “Funkasaurusâ€￾ Brodus Clay dances his way down to the ring. Brodus soon finishes his entrance in the ring and a set of pyros goes off. The crowd now boos as Heath Slater makes his way down to the ring. He taunts the crowd and gets up on the turnbuckle before jumping back down and sizing up Brodus.

--------------------

Brodus Clay vs. Heath Slater

This was a relatively easy match for Brodus; the crowd was fully behind him as he head-butted Slater to the ground when he ran at him. After picking Heath back up and sending him back down with a powerslam, Clay finished him off with a running splash to secure the win in just over a minute.

Winner: Brodus Clay in 1:01

--------------------
“That was impressive from the Funkasaurus!â€￾ says William. “Yes Will, but another loss for Heath Slater here on Overdriveâ€￾ replies Josh. Brodus continues to dance as Overdrive goes commercial.

--Commercial Break—

There’s a pop from the crowd as we see Matt Striker in the back with Triple H. Hunter looks angry as Matt asks for his thoughts on last weeks attack on him by Kane. “Matt, tonight I have to focus on that whiney piece of crap Cody Rhodes, but after I’m done with him, Kane had better be watching his back, because I’ll be right after him…â€￾ Hunter’s face twitches slightly as the camera fades.

JBL is in his office with SoCal Val. SoCal asks why he wanted to see her. “Well SoCal, I just wanted to run something by you. We have our first pay-per-view coming up in a few weeks and as General Manager, I thought I should start booking matches. How does this sound to you? At Beach Brawl, Randy Orton taking on Cody Rhodes, for the IPW Championship!â€￾ there’s a massive pop from the crowd and JBL smiles. “I think that sounds great John, I…â€￾ The General Manager cuts off SoCal. “That’s Mr. Layfield to you, now if you will excuse me I have some business to attend toâ€￾ JBL walks out of his office, leaving SoCal alone.

Josh and Regal talk about the match just made for the upcoming Beach Brawl. “This is a great chance for Cody Rhodes to show what he’s made of!â€￾ says Regal. Josh then let’s us know that coming up next is the third time Wade Barrett and Ted DiBiase will be facing off, and hopefully this week a clear winner can be decided. Wade is out first met by a barrage of boos and is soon followed by Ted DiBiase, who is given with a much more mixed reception. The pair are ready to go for the third time in as many weeks, but just as the bell rings…

“DING DING DING DING DING DING…â€￾

The cowbells go off and the Overdrive General Manager appears at the top of the ramp holding a microphone. JBL tells the referee to stop the match, and once he has Barrett and DiBiase’s attention, he begins. “Wade, Ted, will you two come backstage with me for a minute? I would like to talk to you both…â€￾ After some hesitation the pair walk back up the ramp and walk backstage, followed by JBL. With the match apparently not going ahead and everyone a bit confused, the camera cuts to a highlight package of the last few weeks on Overdrive.

We’re back and Johnny Curtis has made his way to the ring, ready for his match. Josh briefly reminds us of the heated situation Johnny is currently in with AJ Styles. Suddenly, sinister music hits, and it turns out Johnny’s opponent is none other than Kane. Johnny looks nervous as Kane slowly gets into the ring.

--------------------

Johnny Curtis vs. Kane

As much as it looked like Kane would win this one throughout, Johnny did put up a decent fight to the enjoyment of the Phoenix fans. Kane took full control in the early stages and set up for a chokeslam, but Johnny reversed. Curtis recovered and after landing Maine Jam, he covered Kane but he kicked out at two. Johnny pulled Kane up and sent him across the ropes. As he came back Johnny hit him with a massive Johnny Kick, which sent Kane tumbling out of the ring. As the referee began to count Kane out, behind his back AJ Styles appeared from nowhere, turned Curtis around and hit him with a Styles Clash before disappearing. Kane rolled back into the ring, saw the fallen body of Curtis and immediately went for the pin.

Winner: Kane in 6:44

--------------------
--Commercial Break—

Josh and William are at ringside as a replay of Kane’s win following AJ’s attack on Johnny Curtis is shown. “The young superstar Johnny Curtis put up a huge fight against Kane, it’s a shame the match had to end like thatâ€￾ says Regal as we cut backstage.

Daniel Bryan is with his manager, Paul Heyman. “Come on Paul, tell me, who’s my tag partner for the night!â€￾ asks DB. “All in good time Daniel, you’ll know soon enough! Let me say though, I know him very, very wellâ€￾ Paul smiles as the pair walk off, before Josh reminds us that Bryan and a mystery partner are facing Mr. Kennedy and Ryback tonight.

Matt is with AJ Styles in the interview area. “See what I did there Matt? Johnny doesn’t deserve to be in this company with the likes of Kane and myself. The last few weeks him and me have been at each other’s throats, and if that’s what I have to do to keep him down then so be it. But fear not, when I go out there later and face Sin Cara in my match, I’ll make sure I finish with my hand raisedâ€￾ The crowd boo as AJ walks away.

Back out front, Josh reminds us of the developing situation between Ken Kennedy and Daniel Bryan. Bryan beat Kennedy two weeks ago using brass knuckles and since Kennedy has been out for revenge, which he might get tonight.

“Misterrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Kennedyyyyyyyy!â€￾

The crowd cheer as Mr. Kennedy comes out with a grin on his face. He swiftly gets down to the ring, before calling a microphone from the heavens and announcing his own arrival. He throws it back up as his tag partner Ryback comes out, who was victim to Bryan’s brass knuckles last week. Ryback powers down to the ring, gets in and shakes hands with Ken.

“YES! YES! YES!â€￾

The crowd boo (with some fans chanting YES!) as Daniel Bryan comes out, closely followed by Paul Heyman. After a few “YES!â€￾ chants, DB waits at the top of the ramp as Paul gets a microphone. “Ladies and gentlemen! Please let me introduce to you, Daniel Bryan’s tag team partner for the night, a very close friend of mine…â€￾

“One Of A Kind!â€￾

The crowd goes crazy as Rob Van Dam comes out. Some fans are wary however, as RVD seems to be aligning himself with the villainous Daniel Bryan. DB and RVD make their way down to the ring before both posing on the turnbuckles for a moment. Soon, we’re ready to go.

--------------------

Mr. Kennedy & Ryback vs. Daniel Bryan & Rob Van Dam w/Paul Heyman

Ryback and Bryan kicked off the match with Ryback overpowering DB to gain an early advantage. He soon tagged in Kennedy who went to work at his nemesis. However, after an attempted Mic Check, Bryan countered and made a hot tag to RVD. After some back and forth action between Kennedy and Van Dam, both men began to tire slightly. After hitting RVD with an inverted superplex, Ken tagged Ryback back in. Whilst the action in the ring continued, Paul Heyman began to taunt Kennedy, who reacted by going at Heyman. Daniel stepped in to help Paul out, which resulted in Kennedy and Bryan going into a massive brawl. Back in the ring, RVD managed to nail Ryback with a Van Daminator kick out of nowhere, before rolling him up for the three-count.

Winners: Daniel Bryan & Rob Van Dam in 7:59

--------------------

As RVD celebrates momentarily, he watches Ken and Daniel continue to brawl, before shrugging his shoulders and leaving with Paul Heyman in tow. IPW officials soon run down to ringside in order to try and break up the fight, but the pair keep going for each other. Suddenly…

“DING DING DING DING DING DING…â€￾

JBL comes out and stands on the ramp with a microphone. “Ken! Daniel! Break it up! You two have shown everyone over the past few weeks that you have some problems with each other. Brawling on MY show isn’t that way to go about it. That’s why at Beach Brawl, you two will be facing each other!â€￾ There’s a pop from the crowd at this announcement as the officials continue to hold each man back. “And hell, it’s going to be for the INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP!â€￾ JBL smiles as the crowd go crazy. The Overdrive GM cuts backstage as Kennedy and Bryan smile viciously at each other.

--Commercial Break—

Josh and William welcome us back and comment on the second match that’s been made tonight for the upcoming Beach Brawl pay-per-view. First Randy Orton will defend his IPW Championship against Cody Rhodes, and now the GM has just booked Mr. Kennedy facing Daniel Bryan for the IPW Intercontinental Championship!

We cut backstage, were Ted DiBiase and Wade Barrett are leaving JBL’s office. SoCal Val waits outside. Once Ted and Wade have left, JBL comes into the picture. “JBL, could you tell us what you wanted to talk to Wade Barrett and Ted DiBiase about?â€￾ she says. “Well SoCal, let’s just say these two fine men are working for me now…â€￾ JBL smiles as the camera fades.

We are shown a quick reply of Chris Sabin’s match with Robert Roode last week, which resulted in both of The Motor City Machine Guns getting beer bottle shots to the head. We then cut to Matt Striker, who is with Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. Matt asks for their thoughts. Alex takes the microphone. He says that himself and Chris will rise above those scumbags Beer Money, because they’re too cowardly to win matches through pure talent and… Alex is suddenly cut off, as Storm and Roode appear from behind the two Gunners and take them down. Beer Money stomp down on Alex and Chris before laughing at them and walking away.

Back in the ring, Sin Cara has done his athletic entrance and is waiting for his opponent.

“You Are, You Are, I Am, I Amâ€￾

The crowd boos AJ Styles as he walks down the ramp with a cocky smile on his face. He taunts the crowd all the way down to the ring, before jumping in and getting ready for the match.

--------------------

Sin Cara vs. AJ Styles

The two high-flyers put on a great athletic match for the crowd who witnessed many cruiserweight moves from the pair. After a few minutes, AJ managed to lock Cara into a four-figure leg lock, but Cara managed to grab the ropes. AJ got Cara up and threw him against the ropes. As he came back he hit him with a flying armbar, but as Cara fell back he also took the referee with him! As AJ tried desperately to get the referee back up, Johnny Curtis came from up behind him and hit him with a sitout suplex slam, leaving him out cold. As Cara and the ref came around, the three count was made.

Winner: Sin Cara in 4:23

--------------------

Sin Cara celebrates his win, as Johnny stands on the entrance ramp, laughing at AJ. “Well, after AJ Styles screwed Johnny Curtis out of a chance to win his match tonight, Johnny has just done the same here!â€￾ says Josh. AJ slowly gets back to his feet and looks angrily at Johnny. We catch Curtis on camera says “Just returning the favor AJ!â€￾

Cody Rhodes is walking backstage, getting ready for his match with Triple H, which is coming up next.

--Commercial Break—

“Time To Play The Game!â€￾

Triple H gets a great ovation from the crowd as Overdrive returns to him making his entrance. Whilst he is walking down the ramp, Josh reminds us of the situation between Triple H and Kane that seems to be developing, along with the rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. Hunter spits his water out before getting into the ring.

“Whoaa Oh, You’re Only Smoke And Mirrors…â€￾

Cody gets loads of heat as he walks down the ramp. He has a massive smile on his face, most likely because of the Championship match he was given tonight by JBL. Cody gets into the ring slowly, eyes fixed on The Game. The referee calls for the bell and tonight’s main event is underway!

--------------------

Triple H vs. Cody Rhodes

The crowd chants Triple H’s name as the two superstars lock up. Hunter goes for a quick clothesline but Cody ducks and tackles him into the corner. Hunter lays some punches onto Cody before a big right hand sends him down to the mat. Hunter goes for the pin but there’s a kick out at two. HHH pulls Cody back to his feet and knocks him straight back down with a high knee. As he gets him up once again, Cody begins to fight back and knocks Trips back into the corner before unleashing onto him. Rhodes throws The Game across the ropes and catches him with a crossbody. Cody rolls out of the ring and pulls HHH’s leg over to the ringpost before smashing it onto the metal. After this, he takes some time to taunt his opponent and the crowd. Rhodes continues to work away at Hunter’s leg with a series of kicks. He then locks the damaged leg into a sort of submission hold, but Triple H manages to grab the ropes and the match continues. After a few leg drags, Cody covers but there is another kick out. Rhodes pulls his opponent up; Irish whips him onto the ropes and lands a bulldog on Hunter. Cody taunts the crowd as Overdrive goes to a brief commercial break.

--Commercial Break—

We return to see both men up and exchanging punches in the middle of the ring. Cody goes for a dropkick but it is reversed and HHH lands a flowing DDT. He then locks Cody into a sleeper hold, but the #1 Contender to the IPW Championship wriggles his way out and begins to fight back. Cody manages to fight off Hunter, so he runs to the top rope and jumps off looking for another crossbody. But he is met by the boot of Triple H, who in turn instantly sets up for the Pedigree, but Cody counters this and gets a Russian legsweep to send Hunter back down. After taking a moment to recover in the corner, Cody turns around to see Triple H there, who sends him across the ropes and lands a spinning spinebuster on him as he comes back. With Cody out, HHH gets himself psyched up for the Pedigree. But suddenly Kane slides into the ring, grabs Triple H by the throat and goes for a chokeslam, but Hunter reverses it and BAM! Kane is out after a Pedigree from The Game. Whilst this is happening, Cody is coming around and sizes up Hunter, but out of nowhere Randy Orton appears and hits him with an RKO! Hunter and the referee turn around to see Cody. HHH picks him up, nails him with a Pedigree and gets the three count.

Winner: Triple H in 13:08

--------------------

The fans go wild for the crazy ending to the match. Triple H celebrates as the referee raises his hand. Orton jumps into the ring and the pair shakes hands before Orton raises Hunter’s other hand. The final shot of the night sees Triple H and Randy Orton standing tall over their nemeses’ bodies. “Join us again next week in San Francisco, our final stop before Beach Brawl!â€￾ Josh and William wish everyone a good night as Overdrive goes off air.
