Xtremebadass' REAL iMPACT! 05/24
Well boys and girls, greetings from “The Real iMPACT!†once again I am xtremebadass, this column is to provide you insight about the previous episode of TNA iMPACT! Thursday nights on Spike TV, and also to tell you what REAL iMPACT! it made on us wrestling fans!
Good old Thursday nights, good for only one thing…iMPACT! Yes, you finally made it through the day and you plan on kicking back and watch some TNA. You already know you will see 2 blockbuster matches, but were you going to be disappointed?
The show starts off fast. First one out of the gate, none other than Team 3D. The fans have not been taking good to Team 3D at all lately. 3D sucks chants reign through the iMPACT! Zone. Team 3D is supposedly coming out to face the Steiners, but they call them out. They go on about how they respect them. Steiners come out and they look pissed. This promo really through me off. They argued back and fourth. Scottie went off on them saying how their WCW tag title reign meant crap, because they were never in WCW…true stuff. They also said how they were never ECW World Tag Team Champions because they never defended them worldwide, “City†and “State†tag team champions were used, and at this point I don’t care about seeing the match, because finally fatty and blacky are getting their asses handed to them for once. Scottie did most of the talking, that’s until, the Challenged one of the Steiner, Rick, pulls out a big ass list out of his jacket and it lists all of the tag teams the Steiners beat. I found it funny because the Steiners said Team 3D never defeated any of those teams, but Team 3D did defeat LOD in 2002 or 2003 if I am not mistaking, so TNA is once again not that historically accurate. So, Scottie cut him off, but Rick just kept talking. When it was all said and done, all of a sudden its Team 3D vs. Steiners at Slammiversary for the tag titles, don’t know why they said it was going to be tonight, but whatever, it’s TNA, they don’t get injured.
Leticia is backstage with Christian Cage and Tomko, by the way, Leticia is once again smoking. They are about to have a tag match with LAX, Tomko is trying to develop a personality, showing improvement, but all that ever comes out of his mouth is “shoulda thought about that when you promised me a title shot.†Think of some new lines Batista!
Jeremy Borash is backstage with Kip James and Lance Hoyt. BG James is not there due to injury from Basham and Damaja. I have must have missed the part where Hoyt joined VKM, because why he is there puzzles me. Hoyt promises he will get the job done. Kip says this is Hoyt’s chance to step up, if Hoyt was in any other storyline, he would do way better, because this storyline blows. They go out and face Basham and Damaja. It’s a pretty suckass match. Hoyt said previously he wasn’t afraid to hit a girl and well it showed. In the middle of the match, I guess Hoyt wanted a little ass, so he grabbed Christy Hemme from ringside and brought her up the ramp leaving his partner to fend for himself. Basham and Damaja picked up the win after this sick double team move, don’t know what it’s called, but it’s a pretty impressive tag finisher.
JB is backstage with Samoa Joe. It’s pretty boring seeing Joe considering his activity lately. He gave a pretty solid interview on Sting. Wasn’t anything special, but Joe’s improving on the mic, never will match his ring skills though.
Yet another JB interview, this time with Roode Inc. God, how many times does Double R have to say Eric Young is his man bitch? “I own you Eric!†Eric Young now has one week, once again, one week this time to answer Roode’s lawyers, because if he doesn’t take some sort of legal action, then once again, he will be fired. I thought from day 1 that Eric’s “Don’t fire me†gimmick wouldn’t go for long, his job can’t be threatened his whole career, that’s just stupid.
So now it’s Cage and Tomko vs. LAX. Konnan is outside on crutches and argues with Hector Guererro the whole time. I don’t understand the heel vs. heel tag match, but the fans were definitely on LAX’s side. Homicide really got the shaft most of the match, but was able to tag in Hernandez after an onslaught from Team Cage.Tomko delivers a huge clothesline and Cage nails a frog splash on Hernandez to hit the win. Konnan slaps Hector, it looks kind of nasty, until stagnant water Rhino and Ex Pirate Chris Harris comes out and saves him, yea that’s right, Harris and Rhino, blows my mind too.
JB interview…again. This time with Kurt Angle. It’s pretty stupid, because he says he can’t stand either Sting of Joe and doesn’t care who wins, yet he says he would be ringside and never showed.
King of the Mountain Qualifier Number 2…Joe vs. Sting first time ever. Yea, it was a pretty good match, but how good can a 7 minute match be? Some solid moves by Joe, they both went for their submission finishers early on, of course neither of them locked it. Thought the match would be clean and just normal, until Sting Jr. Christopher Daniels comes out and interferes. Sting is distracted right away because Sting thinks he is stealing his gimmick. Daniels distracts ref, throws bat to Sting, Sting rejects it, and later on Daniels hits Sting in the legs with the bat, behind the ref’s back. Joe nails a Samoan Drop on Sting and covers him to get the win, many wonder, why the hell did Joe win by a Samoan Drop??? He did it, get over it.
No X Division this week? Great no boring 6 man tag! Next week’s KOTM Qualifier, AJ vs. JJ, this is going to be great, don’t know who should win though.
I give this one 8.5/10
