Has anyone in the states or in North America heard about these “tea partiesâ€￾ that went on yesterday? Basically, a lot of people came out to say “were sick of big government and these ridiculous taxation and spending.â€￾ My question is, where the fuck were these RUBES when George W Bush was running up the debt higher than anyone to that point, and AAAAND shitting all over the rights of American citizens and basically anyone around the world with the enactment of things like preemptive war, the patriot act, and Gitmo? Where were your calls against “big brotherâ€￾ then?

Back then they were quite content to have a Blue fellow run the country. Now here comes this politician who actually knows what he's doing and they're all like "Damn, we want our blueberry back!" When they don't get their blueberry back they protest. They're not sure what they're protesting, but gosh darn it, they're gonna do it.

I would've lol'ed so hard if those idiots got arrested for tax evasion during their tea parties. Even though I agree with the BS raised taxes/spread the wealth stuff, standing outside and holding up signs won't do anything. Especially when everyone there was white.

I love it. IM AGAINST BIG GOVERNMENT (unless my guy is in office). And make no mistake, I have no problem with a tempered response to a situation, sometimes government needs to step in. But if you want them to step in some places, you have no right calling someone else communist or socialist, when you believe the same thing.

The difference is that they were protesting big government as far as economic policy is concerned. Obviously liberals do not mind big government on economic issues and conservatives do not mind big government on social issues. When conservatives decry "big government" it is about high taxes, huge government programs, etc. So yes you have a point with Bush's high debt, but the civil liberties is pretty much irrelevant.

I lean more libertarian, so I think both sides are pretty hypocritical, but I do know that is where the Tea Party enthusiasts are coming from.

No, what im saying about civil liberties is NOT irrelevant, you cant be FOR one form of big government (The Patriot Act, Rendition, Guantanamo) and be against another form (High Taxes and Spending) while calling the other side commies and facists or whatever. It's complete bullshit.

It's the same as people objecting to be government in the Patriot Act, but supported enormous government programs. I don't think you can say that one's political views HAVE to be completely authoritarian or completely anarchist. It's a very small percentage of Americans that like BOTH forms of big government and only a slightly larger percentage that like neither. The vast majority are turned on to one and turned off to the other.

Weren't the tea party protests about some document instated that said that right wind extremists were dangerous to the government and would be watched as if they were terrorists?

In which some extreme conservatives have somehow deduced that the document also means that if you are anti abortion, anti gay marriage, anti government spending or disagree with Obama in any way are also considered terrorists?

I think that's what the tea parties were about in the first place. But I could be wrong.
