If you could re-book ONE championship reign, what would it be?

...Why?
...What would you have done differently and at what events?
...Who'd you have your champ finally drop the title to?
...When etc.?

Guidelines:

Any Fed, any title, any era, but make it realistic (i.e. Stay true to the fed's roster of the time) and PLEASE spare us any ‘humorous’ superman reigns.

I'll just start with a simple recent one...

CM Punk's most recent reign.

1. Why? Because in a time when Smackdown was desperate for a top heel and fresh faces CM Punk was exactly what was needed. He played his role to perfection, he was over as fuck and didn't fit WWE's current mold of chicken shit heels. CM Punk is teetering on the edge of the main event and all he needs is that one awesome title reign to keep him there permanently.

2. The screw job was good, a nice little call back and an awesome vessel to further get CM Punk some heat. But are you telling me in he next match which was HIAC they couldn't have thought of some way to put Punk over Undertaker? IT'S NO DQ FOR FUCKS SAKE! He didn't need to get the clean 1,2,3. There was a million different ways he could have knocked off Taker in that match. There was no reason Taker needed the belt that soon after returning. It was more than enough for him to be the challenger... he didn't need to be the champ, because we all knew once CM Punk lost the belt he wouldn't be chasing Taker for it.

3. EVENTUALLY I would have have Punk drop it to Taker. Maybe at this week's TLC would have been a good time to do so. Then Taker would have been ready for his feud with Batista by RR time and could do the quick drop to Batista. Undetaker doesn't need long title reigns, they get extremely boring very quickly.


This would have cemented Punk as a main eventer against a more than legit challenger for his belt while at the same time gaining him a decent amount of heat. Instead they fucked up what could have been the most successful main event push in years in favor of having him feud with a ref and R Truth.

Dude gets the biggest rub the industry could EVER give you by having 2 of the top 3 draws in modern history job to him in one night and they do jack shit with him and he plays second fiddle in the Steph-HHH feud. You will be hard pressed to find a bigger blown opportunity than this...wait...Invasion was the months that preceded the Jericho blunder.

Yes, this was undoubtedly the worst booked championship reign ever. They used Jericho to squash him so HHH could look even better after returning from his quad injury.

Seriously? The top heel champion, undisputed is picking up Steph's dry cleaning and picking up Lucy the Pet Dog's shit on screen? Thinking about it makes me mad to this day.

^^^ Fine. I'd have taken Stephanie out of the angle entirely, making it way more important to the first undisputed champ. The focus of the angle should be that it's the undisputed world title, something Triple H was focusing on while he was rehabbing. Jericho still would have dropped to Trips since Trips was the returning face, but to build Jericho up, I would have had him go over clean against both Austin and Rock at No Way Out and the Rumble to make him look how anyone would want the Undisputed champion to. Instead he looked weak and the HHH lost his heat so fast he dropped to Hogan the very next month and that's where you can pinpoint the drop off in WWE ratings. The blowoff match then could have included Stephanie, but I'd much rather her not be involved with anything.

I think having the undisputed world title, which really signaled the end of WCW to any degree, was terribly downplayed the entire time the concept was in use. They had something going with the champ being able to perform on both shows, then screwed it up with the addition of the WHC. It could have served two purposes: make the title scene incredibly deep and prestigious and added a much needed rivalry element to the brand split. Instead we got a worthless rehash of a title that was unified into the WWE title and 3 Minute Warning feuding with Smackdown through a gay wedding angle. Both sucked.
