Why tamper with the classics?

Yes, this is a thread about gimmick matches, or the overflow of them in TNA. I have one thing to say: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

We have age old classics that will always get a response and are consistentlty entertaining, like Steel Cage, Ladder, or simply an old-fashioned No Holds Barred match. The list continues, yet TNA CONTINUE to put on crappy gimmick matches with no purpose.

Now all you TNA fanboys out there (Yes, there are TNA fanboys too) will probably respond with an 'at least TNA try new things!'. Yep, since a 'Brawl N Chain' match is a brilliant idea, or a Cuffed in the Cage match. Sure, there is nothing wrong with innovation, but sometimes it is ridiculous. Often there is one of these matches then we never hear from it again

To put it simply, one of TNA's major flaws is the gimmicks. Let me ask you, to sum it all up, what would you rather see, a Street Fight or a Brawl N Chain match?

A brawl and chain match it has to be! It has more action blood and sweat and much more exciting. Im bored of the 'street fight' which is slow and not much really happens they just go from room to room.

It wouldn't be so bad if The likes of future legends like MCMG and AJ Styles weren't always being put in them...>_> Save this shit for Johnny Devine vs. Super Eric IMO :smh

I'm a Big TNA Fan

IMO I like it over WWE but there gimmick matches do get stupid as hell sometimes...I understand having some every so often but its like every PPV with them they have some new gimmick match or something..

I say maybe one to three gimmick matches a year...not counting Lockdown and with that keep them simple...keep the Xscape match and Lethal Lockdown IMO.....add maybe an Ultimate X Six Sides of Steal match to it...and then the rest plan cages matches..

I've been saying this about TNA for a long time. I think what TNA is trying to get is a "new" match, like it's the first time ever for every gimmick match, even though it's just a slight change with something else. They're trying to play things off as a big deal, that's what I think.

Yeah pretty much what HFH said, They want to attract viewers by saying things are the first time ever when there is just a little twist in them. Yes Some of the TNA Gimmicks are abit out there and Yes I am going to say it they are trying out new things, Find out a Gimmick that suits the brand(If that Makes Sense). No I am not a TNA Fanboy but there is pretty much no chance that they are going to get rid of this till they gert a decent fanbase. It just started over here and I see these Dumb matches going on for awhile as they are still trying to attract a fan base. Unlike WWE they do not have worldwide regconition, Hell I hade no idea TNA even existed till like a year ago. So give it time and these matches will noo longer exist....

Or at least I hope...

Give it time for them to stop and wait till they have a decent fanbase around the world.

TNA kinda gone over the top with themselves after innovating KOTM and Ultimate X (from my knowledge they did) and ever since they think they are the kings at making new matches but instead of their ideas being great like Ulitmate X and KOTM, they have gradually gotten more worse and more stupid after every match they make. They try moulding WWE's matches into something new (which always ends up 10 times worse) when they could just make (or try to make) some good matches from scratch.

I like where you're going here. TNA needs to be this way to really seperate itself from just another wrestling promotion. Sure, it's overkill sometimes but watching them on dvd or ppv and seeing the fan's reaction it more than compensates for it.
