Ever since Jeff Hardy stepped up to the main event, the IC Title has rarely been defended. He's carrying it around as a title that's just for looks, and I don't see him defending it anytime soon. I think it's holding him back, because when he loses it, it might be someone on the lower card, and will make Hardy look bad. What 's next for this title and who could have the credibility to beat Hardy?

Possibly Kennedy or Paul Burchill could feud with him.

Jeff Hardy is past the IC Title what needs to happen is he needs to put his title on the line against Carlito, Santino, or Cody Rhodes and during that match who ever Jeff Hardy is feuding with at the time screws HArdy out of his title. So that would get Hardy past the title and it would add more heat to his feud.

The unclean finish would work, but Kennedy I think is past the IC Title too, Burchill is the one that has the most steam, so I guess that would be the ideal pick. Or maybe a Hardy/Y2J feud that goes till Summerslam? At least that will get the title attention, even though both are far better than the title.

I would like to see Burchill become IC champ, but it's a ways off for him imo. He's a perfect fit for it, but I'm guessing the next 3 or 4 weeks he'll continue to beat up on jobbers then have a propper feud. Then finally after that maybe he'll get a shot at the IC title.

^^^I think Regal should take the belt away for not defending it enough (can't recall the time period, but they always used to cite that belts had to be defended with a certain regularity. Besides people still drop the belt when they're injured for that very reason - The injury itself isn't the issue, it's the lack of defenses that the injury will bring).

Have a one-night IC tournament on Raw (or even running through one of the more minor PPVs). Boom the belt means something again.

It used to be a 30-day rule, but they no longer pay attention to that. Burchill is still a ways from winning the IC belt, I mean he just got back. Jericho is past the IC belt at this point in his career, Carlito or Umaga seem like the leading candidates in my opinion to take it off of Hardy.

ye it still existed back in 2004 (remember edge being stripped of the belt), but it definately doesnt anymore. i still see burchill being the next ic champion, possibly winning it after backlash

I think that they will have Jeff Hardy drop the belt and have a tournament for the IC Belt.

but how many people could you put in an ic title tournament?? the number of contenders for the lower belt is not very high

its a raw championship though. they arent meant to have a talent exchange (even though matt hardy held the world tag team titles with jeff)
