If Tachi Palace Fights flyweight champion Ian McCall is the best flyweight in the world, he'll be forced to defend that throne. That first defense now has a challenger.
Sherdog.com has confirmed that "Uncle Creepy" will make the first defense of his TPF crown at TPF 11 "Redemption" at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif., on Dec. 2 against fellow WEC veteran Will Campuzano.
Both parties confirmed the bout to Sherdog.com Thursday.
Campuzano had a less-than-stellar run in the WEC and UFC, going 1-4 overall. Those fights were in the bantamweight division though, and Will figures that he was just outsized in those bouts:Sherdog.com has confirmed that "Uncle Creepy" will make the first defense of his TPF crown at TPF 11 "Redemption" at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif., on Dec. 2 against fellow WEC veteran Will Campuzano.
Both parties confirmed the bout to Sherdog.com Thursday.
"I was always small. I was walking around at 133 or 134 in the WEC," Campuzano told Sherdog.com "I’ve actually put some size on now. I think I hit my growth spurt pretty late. It's not easy to make the cut, but I can do it."
McCall had a similar problem in his WEC run, where he went 1-2. He dropped a decision to current UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz in his last fight with the promotion, but has since reeled off four straight wins at flyweight to claim the number one ranking in the world. Tachi Palace Fights has unquestionably the deepest flyweight division in North America, and with the UFC looking to bring in the 125 pound division, these guys are looking to strut their stuff. It should be a great fight.
