That brand split is mostly the reason why the shows aren't as good as they used to be. It's even worse for RAW due to the 3 hours of programming every Monday night, Smackdown is easier to sit through because it's shorter. But it's hard to watch because of the fact that the roster is cut in half and the wrestlers have the same matches every week. You had the same feuds even before the brand split but they were on the same shows, so that meant you actually had to watch both RAW and Smackdown otherwise you'd miss a large chunk of the storyline. Now it's just one show per week with the shows being promoted as two separate entities. I liked it when I had to watch both shows when everybody fought for the same thing : A championship belt or an ongoing feud which intertwined with the entire WWE brand and not just one or the other.

The brand split is there because WWE wants to separate stars. Example: Renee Young dates Dean Ambrose. Paige dated Del Rio before going to TNA. But even that, even that did more damage than good. Then they played into their negative hand, by bringing up stars from NXT to test the waters. Then we learned that it stifles them because there's no real access to the pool of feuds that they could have.

Thankfully, we're going back to the original dual brand thing after Wrestlemania. They already hinted at this with the list of pay per views coming up after WM34. It's already happening with Charlotte/Asuka. So, sit tight.

Dating????? I agree with your other reasoning: wanting to bring up more stars and give them a chance to shine, but doing it because of dating? No way.

Remember, the split happened in the middle of these backstage dramas.

lmao remember when people wanted the brand split to come back so badly? I do and it wasn't long ago. It's typical, you always want what you don't have.
Yes, Smackdown is a bit of a pain to watch right now, but putting both brands together doesn't help anyone. Road Dogg just has to figure his shit out and we'll be gucci again. They're already changing their PPV format to have both brands represented and I guarantee it will be a mess because you have way too many titles and way too much talent to book into 1 show. Same would happen if they'd go back to the duel brand format as a whole. Just way too much to deal with.

The brand split is there because WWE wants to separate stars.
original reasoning for the brand split was the USA network because they weren't happy with Smackdown's ratings, so Vince decided to revive the brand split so that Smackdown ratings would spike again

Purely coincidence. It happened because of the ratings and wanting to push other talent, things of that nature. They wouldn’t split a brand, a huge change, unless it has to do with making more money potentially. It had 0 to do with dating. That’s been going on for years, or some form of sexual ness.

I'm sorry, please give me a example of this because before the draft they never advanced any major story lines on SmackDown. Hell, I remember people joking about SmackDown being the raw recap.

Without the Brand Split Smackdown is just a glorified Raw Recap show. Plus those wrestlers or storylines that you don't like? you get to see them TWICE as much without the brandsplit. While acts like Rusev day never get a chance to be born or wrestlers like Becky never get to see the light of day.

It worked back then because the roster wasn't as big. As soon as they started bringing in people from WCW and ECW WWE became a big roster company. They tried in 2011-2016 and it worked but at the same time it was annoying seeing the same people on both shows like Sheamus and Dean Ambrose ended up having an insane amount of matches in the record books
