It feels like there is a gap in the market right now for a really good RPG. Skyrim is nearly 2 years old, fall out is non-existant atm, and i've blazed through kotor 1 and 2.

Does anyone have a really good RPG to suggest to me? One sort of like mass effect where I can pick and choose how the story progresses?

Games that surprised me with their depth and we're going really old school are: shining force 1 & 2 for the Genesis. They're like FF Tactics in the battle system. If you want a more traditional JRPG, try Phantasy Star IV for the same system. They still hold up IMO.

Love Mass Effect 3, so there's that if you haven't hit that up already. Dragon Age series is pretty bomb too.

If you want a Bioware style RPG, try GOG.com. They specialize in classics. For ten dollars you can get Baldur's Gate 2, the best RPG Bioware ever did. The graphics are dated, but the depth of gameplay and story make Dragon Age look like a joke.

There's a lot of other CRPGs you could try as well. You could check out The Witcher, 1 and 2. You'd need a decent PC for the second one, but they're both deep games with branching story lines. They're on console as well. The tone of them is a little dark and misogynistic at times, but most people consider that more of a pro than a con. For me, it kind of put me off, but that's just me.

If you like hardcore RPGs, try Planescape Torment. It was developed by Black Isle (the better part of Bioware before they split) and it's generally considered the greatest RPG of all time, even though it's a decade old. This is the kind of game where some conversations have over 20 dialogue responses. One of the deepest games ever created. Novel quality story and characters. It'll blow you away if you can get into it. All of these are available on GOG, btw.

Aside from that, Pokemon will be out in a couple weeks. Can't go wrong with Pokemon, lol.

I think i'm going to go with Planescape Torment. Thank you for this post, a lot of insight went into it. I appreciate it.

Happy to help, but be warned it's an old game and requires some patience. I'd highly recommend an FAQ.

Depending on how it goes, I will seek one out. I like the idea of 20 dialogue choices, and molding my own experience.

Forget RPG; get into CCG with "Babylon 5, The Collectible Card Game."

This isnt an RPG, but FarCry 3 is rich in story so it almost feels like one. Nice gameplay, beautiful graphics, and I think is on sale right now, so that's a good bet.

Pokemon.

Far Cry is awesome as well. Got it (bought it in indonesia for 5 bucks) a month ago and ive already finished the story. However, you can take all the time you want and conquer all bases.
