As some of you may know, I have my own blog forum. Since I'm meeting CM Punk tomorrow, I did a huge thing on him on my post today. You can read the full article on this link, but I'll post the Punk part here. Say if your not a wrestling fan, how would you rate this as something that would appeal to you? Would you find this article appealing to say let me go give this Punk guy a try.

Tomorrow will be a monumental day when I head to the city to meet a personal hero of mine. His name is Phil "CM Punk" Brooks. He is a wrestler that goes beyond being some guy with a gimmick that wrestles in his underwear. He's very unique and that starts by being Straight Edge. He doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs which is remarkable. When you think of a modern day wrestler, you don't think of some small guy filled with tattoos being straight edge. He doesn't care about being in the spotlight of pop culture, he wants to be in the spotlight of wrestling and the best in the world at what he does. On his free time, he rides his bike around, listens to heavy rock music, sees friends, and doesn't really sleep. He's very different and it shows you can't judge every wrestler being this huge party guy. That's just outside the ring, now let's get to the good part.
When I got back into wrestling around 2008 after not watching it for about two and half years, I noticed him. He was new and the heavyweight champion which was a shock. It didn't last long but he was incredible. He appealed to me by using his mixed martial style with kicks and knees. From spinning heel kicks to round house kicks, he did everything that could entertain the fans. Eventually he stopped being an underdog and became a villain. He used Straight Edge to be arrogant by telling everyone he was better than them. He would preach to everyone that drinking, smoking, and doing drugs was wrong and that they need to follow his ways. He had his group called the Straight Edge society and made things so entertaining. He would deliver these great segments saving people's lives and shaving their heads to get into the Straight Edge Society. He was the big reason why I quit smoking back in October 2009. His words got to me and made me realize their is no point to this (he didn't stop me drinking, but still good job Punk). But despite all this, it just made me really like him as a character and a guy like to watch. He wasn't a hero to me yet.
After getting hurt for a long period of time, he went to do commentary (which was epic, you should you tube it). He eventually came back in 2011 to the ring as this leader for a group called The Nexus. They were a group of young men that brutalized people in groups. It was an awesome idea to put Punk as the leader, but it got him nowhere. It was a major dud and it got Punk nowhere despite being an awesome leader. He would deliver these segments that would have fans chanting his name despite being a huge villain. Punk was frustrated because he's been one of the best in the business yet he wasn't getting treated like it. He didn't win a Paper View match for about a year and hasn't had the major championship since October 2009. It was sad to see and rumors started swirling that he was leaving soon. Then June 27th came around when Punk just last week announced he will be leaving the company. He was going to get his title match against John Cena who is the golden child of the company. Punk made history that night as only the third man to do a shoot. Only Joey Styles and Paul Heyman have got the chance to do a shoot on live television. A shoot is where you rip someone or many and it's not edited. You can say whatever you want and their no limits, it's rare you ever see this on live television. Usually most segments or promos are filtered since it's a PG show but Punk got the chance to cross the line. Most fans love it including me and we plead to keep doing it. Link is below.
Punk basically stole the show and basically won best moment I've ever seen on television. Chris Jericho, Edge, Stone Cold, The Rock were all great and have amazing legacies but none of them ever did what Punk did Punk stood up for the internet, he stood up for his fans, stood up for the forgotten, and most importantly he stood up for himself. CM Punk was becoming a hero to me but now he cemented it after that night and was a certified legend. He showed everyone that when your upset about your role, you do something about it. He ripped on the company, not being promoted enough, The Rock, and many other things. He did cross the line a bit, but this promo will never be forgotten. Everyone praised him for it and people were hugging him in the back. Other than Jericho, he's been the best overall talent since I've gotten back into it (Edge has been hurt so I can't say him, his best work was from 2005 to 2008). Punk decided to stay with the company which was a relief to me. He was getting his spotlight to shine and became a huge fan favorite to many. Then finally in July, Punk won the WWE title from John Cena in his hometown of Chicago. It was one of the greatest matches I have ever seen. It was thirty five minutes long and the crowd was so loud in support of Punk. I didn't get to see it live as I was sadly in Croatia but I remember coming back and watching it that night. It was great to see him succeed after taking Edge and Jericho's role as being the guy that was must watch. Punk has this thing where he is so unpredictable where he is must watch. That's the best you can ask for along with being great in the ring. It was his time in the spotlight and it made my summer (which was already awesome).
Now we are here at present time where Punk doesn't have the title anymore. Some may say he has lost some momentum of being a rebel, but he remains in the main event. He continues to make me want to watch every segment he is in about ten times a week. Some segments that stood out to me was his contract signing with Vince McMahon which was better than the shoot. Also his contract signing with John Cena and then owning Kevin Nash in a segment after Nash cost Punk his title. Punk has now saved wrestling because I was close to stop watching. It was getting redundant and my favorites were leaving. Chris Jericho left in September 2010 and we have no idea when he's coming back. Edge had to retire in April due to injury and Kane is headed to the end of his career. Once I heard Punk was ready to leave, I worried that it would get very bad and I may not watch anymore. But he stepped up and now is getting more good talent air time. Now I'm not just a Punk fan, their are plenty of guys I enjoy watching. Christian, The Miz (pleasure to meet the guy), Dolph Ziggler, and Cody Rhodes are the big names that I love watching. But they don't have the must watch factor Punk has and the irreplaceable factor. That what separates Punk from everyone and has become a huge inspiration in my life. He has showed everyone to speak their mind and to always be original. He always wanted to be a wrestler since he was fifteen. He wanted to do something he loved, along with me. If only he did this a month earlier, I would have included him more in my auto biography. It's alright though, now I have to give Punk his time. He was the spark the company needed, even though he's always been great. The Straight Edge villian was great, along with the underdog hero and the humble leader. But the difference now is Punk is doing everything for real, his character is truly him. This isn't a gimmick, it's Punk doing what is right and that is revolutionizing the business. June 27th was a special day and it's a day I'll never forget. Even if you hate wrestling or think it's fake or it's gay because it's men fighting in their underwear, you have to respect this guy. He has worked day in and day out to get to the top and always wanted to do this. You are a hero Phil Brooks, you have made the world a better place. You have enlightened us all to speak our minds and to fight for what is right. I've been doing that since I was sixteen, but you have showed others too. I've had my fair share of incidents and I can proudly say most of the time, it wasn't my fault. It was me standing up for myself and not taking anymore abuse. Nevertheless, CM Punk will always be a guy I look up to and honor always. It will be memorable to meet you tomorrow and I will be very excited. I've nearly really met any guys I really loved in my life other than The Miz and Lita. So this means so much, so on Monday I will recap everything. Thank you Punk for everything, keep doing what your doing.
