So...I'm just going to cut to the chase with this one.
Asuka is simply amazing...she's fast, strong, agile, sexy
and most of...technically brilliant in the ring. While her
use of the English language could be better (a lot better)
she is expressive enough using facial expressions and body
language that she transcends the need for the spoken word.
Asuka is at her best when she speaks with her fists and her
truly devastating feet.
Let it be said that I will be a very happy man the day Asuka
ascends to the main roster and starts kicking everyone in the
face (although can we please keep her away from Alexa Bliss?)
But there is one problem when it comes to the Empress of
Tomorrow...and that she eventually has to lose.
Asuka is currently undefeated in NXT...in fact the only time
she has even tasted "defeat" was when she failed to win the
Women's Title #1 Contendership Battle Royal early last year
after being eliminated by Eva Fucking Marie of all people.
(Thankfully Carmella won the actual Battle Royal itself...
and Asuka did get some payback @NXT #194)
Below is a detailed list of "the streak" Asuka is currently
on...and I am only counting televised matches.
1). Dana Brooke @NXT TakeOver: Respect (5:25)
2). Billie Kay @NXT #168 (3:27)
3). Cameron @NXT #170 (3:44)
4). Deonna Purrazzo @175 (2:51)
5). Emma @NXT TakeOver: London (14:49)
NXT Women's Title #1 Contendership Battle Royal @NXT #179
6). Santana Garrett @NXT #182 (2:26)
7). Deonna Purrazzo @184 (2:50)
8). Emma @NXT #189 (13:47)
With Bayley defeated Eva Marie & Nia Jax @NXT #188 (4:02)
9). Bayley @NXT TakeOver: Dallas (15:23)
10). Eva Marie @NXT #194 (10:16)
11). Nia Jax @NXT TakeOver: The End (9:11)
12). Aliyah @NXT #207 (-:--)
13). Bayley @NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II (14:07)
14). Liv Morgan @NXT #215 (1:07)
15). Thea Trinidad @NXT #219 (1:40)
16). Mickie James @NXT TakeOver: Toronto (13:05)
17). Nicole Matthews @NXT #224 (2:17)
18). Nia Jax @NXT #228 (15:47)
18 straight wins in singles competition...which is pretty
impressive...I mean its not at Goldberg Streak levels...but
it is still an impressive streak.
But as we know...streaks have to come to an end...
Kevin Nash defeated Goldberg...
Brock Lesnar defeated the Undertaker...
Cesaro & Sheamus defeated the New Day...
Charlotte will eventually be defeated on Pay Per View...
Everything that has a beginning...has to have an end...
But the sad fact is no matter how they book Asuka's first WWE
defeat...it will simply be a disappointing moment. Now...I have
my own booking idea of how her streak could be put to its best
use and possibly broken in a way that would seem epic enough.
+++
So...lets say Charlotte retains her title at the Rumble and
Asuka retains the NXT Championship at TakeOver: San Antonio
(more on that in a bit) The next night on RAW Charlotte comes
out and gloats before being interrupted by everyone's favorite
hugger. Bayley claims she wants another shot...but Charlotte
simply laughs and tells her to get to the Back of the line...before
questioning if there even is a line anymore. Cue Sasha Banks
who makes her way down to the ring only to be attacked from
behind by Nia Jax. Bayley goes out to help Sasha as Nia
confronts Charlotte. Nia wants a shot but Charlotte claims she
hasn't earned one. The simple fact is there is no one left to
challenge her.
The house lights suddenly go down and the arena is swamped
in darkness. Cue this music...along with a new custom
titantron video.
Corey Graves: "Oh My God!!!"
The house lights come back on revealing in the entrance way
in her full mask, robe and in-ring attire, Asuka...the empress
of Tomorrow still with the NXT Women's Championship around her
waist. She stalks down the ramp stopping momentarily to glance
at Bayley (who has a look of fear on her face) and Sasha before
entering the ring and going through her standard pre-match mask
removal routine. All the while Corey Graves has been explaining
just who Asuka is, what she's done and just how dangerous she is.
Once her entrance music cuts out a strange three-way stand off
begins in the the middle of the ring with Asuka glaring at Nia Jax
paying no attention to Charlotte. Nia eventually backs away slowly
and exits the ring as Asuka now focuses on Charlotte and the more
importantly the championship she wears around her waist.
Charlotte goes to speak but suddenly a familiar face appears on
the titantron...William Regal.
"Charlotte my dear...its great to see you...but I'm here to explain
that you and Asuka seem to have the same problem. A lack of any "real"
competition. So I took it upon myself to organize Asuka a temporary
main roster contract in hope she would find what she was looking for
on RAW. Now I know this seems a little out of the blue...but Asuka
would like to challenge you to a title for title match at Wrestlemania.
And seeing as your undefeated on pay per view...and she's currently
undefeated in the NXT...I thought it might be fitting to have a
streak vs. Streak match. Unless of course...you don't intend to have
a match at Wrestlemania?"
+++
Anyway...I'm going to stop there...because like I mentioned earlier...
there could be a turning point in Asuka's career coming up at
TakeOver: San Antonio. Asuka will defend her title against Nikki
Cross, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce in a Fatal Four Way Match.
Now I will admit I thought this sounded like a cool match...
until I realized that its not an elimination match. That means
that Asuka can lose her title without being pinned or submitted.
Now I personally don't believe that Nikki Cross, Billie Kay or
Peyton Royce are ready or even deserving of a title reign...
in fact if I had to pick a member of the current NXT roster to
be the next champion it would be Ember Moon...but...it could be
that the WWE intends to relieve Asuka of her championship while
technically keeping her undefeated.
Now to me...this could mean one of two things.
One...they intend to turn Asuka heel by having her go on a
violent face kicking rampage after loosing her championship...
Or
Two...the time has finally come for Asuka to ascend to the
main roster and unlike what happened with Paige...they don't
want Asuka on the main roster with the NXT belt.
A possible match with Sasha Banks at Wrestlemania would be
awesome to see...and I have to admit...I wouldn't mind Sasha
breaking "the streak" because well...[HASHTAG]#sashadeservesbetter[/HASHTAG]
Of course they could turn around and have Asuka kick Sasha
around before choking her out and once again she loses another
match on pay per view...but...I'm getting ahead of myself here.
It honestly feels like a bit of a booking mess either way you
look at it...but this is what happens when you book someone
as strongly as Asuka.
So my fellow members...I have 3 questions to ask you:
1). Does Asuka lose the title at TakeOver: San Antonio?
2). How would you debut Asuka on the main roster?
&
3). Who will be the one that finally defeats Asuka and breaks her Streak?
Post your answers, comments, opinions & abuse below...and Thanks
again for taking the time to read this & I'll see you around the traps.
