How does the process work ? Do you have to have a real background in actual sports like football, amateur wrestling or MMA fighting like most of the current wrestlers do ? Like Ronda Rousey, Roman Reigns, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar were ? Or do you just start from scratch and learn how to wrestle without having to change your fighting style once you go from a real sport to entertainment ? Since it's not based on whatever or not you can fight, due to the fact that the outcomes are planned in advance.

You do wrestling school. For people like Angle, Gable, and Rousey, it's an easy transition, but they still need to train. Others like Reigns, Corbin, and Rawley need to start from scratch since their sports don't have anything to do with combat. Anyone can get in wrestling school as long as you have heart and about $3000. After that, you wrestle in small time promotions near where you live, you hone your craft, wrestle in slightly bigger places, hone your craft, slightly bigger and slightly better, so on and so forth. If you get lucky (based on who you asked), a WWE agent may be watching a day you wrestle, and that's how you get signed to WWE. You don't need to be an Indy darling or anything, Scott Dawson got signed on his very last day of some random show in God knows where, so that part really boils down to luck. Then - depending on who you are - it takes like, 5 years of performance center training, and boom, you're on NXT

Can't add much to what Hoxton said. All I can tell you is that wrestling training is very hard and will require hard work and dedication. Everyone I know that has trained has told me how difficult it is. Not trying to discourage you, hard work is the greatest thing a person can do.
