...Do the thing when Taker comes up through the ring? If it happens mid show, how do they go on with the rest of the matches? Do the staff replace the mat, or what? IVe always been curious to this...
I think when 'Taker came through the canvas with Michaels, it was on SmackDown! therefore, I guess they could've taped it last. That'd be my only guess.. unless they really do replace it. Which I doubt.
When Warrior was doin his ridiculousness in WCW, they used trap doors. But those doors injured a few workers, like Bulldog, who was then fired. I don't quite know what the E does, but I imagine they just slice the canvas then replace it.
Alright.... under the canvas there is about and inch of padding...under that there is plywood. They simply move the plywood aside and slice through with a blade a bit and then rip a hole....the end.
As to how they get under there, there is no trap door lol. In most cases they are on top of a covered ice rink or basketball court. Honestly, in most cases they just chill under the ring for the whole show and listen to their iPod or whatever...seriously. That's what they do. Either that or if there is an oppurtunity they blacken the arena during a commercial break to show something on the tron and they'll run out.
And yeah...whenever lots of blood or whatever gets on the mat they replace the canvas...the ring crew is like a fuckin pit crew, they work pretty damn quickly.
Yeah, they distract everyone so you don't notice them going under there. One time I noticed two ring crew guys carrying a black bag to the ring and they stuffed it under the apron.....it was Hornswaggle, lol.
Yup...when you're at a live event there are people running everywhere. Refs, production guys, camera men, ect ect. You would think nothing of it if the lights went out for a minute while showing something on the tron and someone ran past you.
