He was one of the most despised heels on Raw whilst leading the NeXus, he stole the show every time he had a microphone. He hung with Roddy Piper when he was sober for god's sake. Yes he was awful in the ring but he could do the basics well enough to survive. He's 6 foot odd with a good build and phenomenal speaking ability, how would you make him credible again or is he another lost cause?

Can anyone doubt the boy can speak? These are just random videos dragged up but he oozes star potential IMO.

It's drastic but a face Wade has a lot of potential IMO, he played the face role well here.. It was a cheap pop but he can exploit it..

Well, let's see. The Nexus storyline ended with him being buried by Cena clean. Then, he was kicked out of Nexus and went on to the Corre. That went nowhere and he jobbed to Ezekiel Jackson. He then proceeded to... uh... do nothing? Until he got hurt. Then he returns, oh, alright, he'll be a badass ass kicker. And we get random heel Wade Barrett with no character, no momentum (returning on SD vs Yoshi Tatsu), a crappy finisher, then he goes around using business metaphores for a while (when we were expecting the fighting club ass kicker) and drops that, having no redeeming qualities as far as gimmicks go (except for a degree in marine biology). Wins the IC title again, jobs to Bo Dallas, that storyline is dropped, and now he's in a pending feud with Sheamus, has been beaten clean by Randy Orton about 10 times in the last 2 months, jobs to ADR and has nothing to do. It's just... it's just a crime. I know he's not the best in the ring, but he can hold his own and is an excellent, excellent talker. He deserves much better than what he's getting.

He came back from a half year gone on injury which fucked up his push (rumor was they were bringing MITB back to mania 28 to push him into the main event). Then when he came back he has never really taken off. No real momentum and since becoming IC champ he has been jobbing to guys like Orton, Sheamus and even Bo Dallas.

Vince just doesn't seem to be that high on him. The only time he was seriously pushed was A) to sell Summerslam, and B) when Koskey was running SD. With no hot angle in place and Vince still running the show, expect more of the same for Wade.

Maybe he and Magnus can join up in TNA someday. Magnus can help train him in the ring since they were about the same in 2010 iirc, and Magnus is far better now.

But you have to blame WWE. The gimmicks he has been given are laughable since his Nexus one. They have never had faith in him. He should have held the title as the Nexus leader for a start, but they have even less faith now.

Was never my intention to say he was to blame. One could make the argument that he hasn't cashed in on opportunities but looking at what he has done one can then say "what opportunities?" Blame lies with WWE booking for at least 90%

Agreed, we should have gotten Barrett vs Cena at WM for the title instead of Miz IMO. Cena wins, get's rock bottomed leading to Miz cashing then. Rock would have over powered it either way IMO but Barrett's stature would have made him stand against it abit more IMO.

I dunno, he seems to be in a pretty good spot. Not in the Main Event picture obviously, but it certainly wouldn't be hard to build him back up again.

He and a lot of other mid carders (Ziggler, Bryan, Sheamus, Miz, etc.) seem to be in that proving ground stage right now. They push them highly for awhile, drop them back down the card to see how they can cope before pushing them right back up to the top if they prove themselves worthy.

I'm sure he'll get a mega-push out of nowhere in a year or so.

He is a very good talker, even better than I've given him credit for. I forgot how good he was during the botched Nexus angle. I'm still not a big fan but more than Miz or Sheamus or Ryback or Cody Rhodes, I could see him becoming a big star if only he received the right push and the stars aligned up in his favor. Maybe he could feud with Del Rio, wonder if they could make something out of a Mexican Hero vs a British, um, hero or something.

I would agree that Barrett winning the belt and then losing it to Cena at Wrestlemania 27 as the blow off to that angle but then he would have just been overshadowed by the Rock/Cena confrontation like Miz was.

One of the few times, I find myself agreeing with you. He's been beaten so many times, for no good reason. It's like the WWE just loves to make their US/IC champions look weak, whilst making the WHC/WWE Champions look tough. Surely all the Champions need to look tough!
