HIW's First ever PPV opened with a video package of recent footage of some of the matches, the main focus being based on the title fight between Sting & The Undertaker and the battle for The darkside. The PPV showed a shot of the 16,000+ crowd inside the building all going nuts with a nice pyro display to kick us off with our first match. The ring announcers J.R. & Don West informed the viewers what they could expect to see at tonights matches and introduced the first match of the evening.
Awesome Kong vs Beth Morgan
A video package put together of the recent fued between Beth Morgan & Awesome Kong, two massive pioneers of the womens division in recent months, it showed in ring mic talk of beth and kong talking trash about each other, running to interfere in each others matches causing them to loose their respective matches. Beth's music hits, she looked fine as ever as she made her way into the ring wearing her title belt around her waist but for how long? Kong then made her way down to the ramp slowly psyching out Morgan in the process, the bell rang and from the get go it was Kong who dominated with a series of powerful moves like body slam, power slam and anything she could think of. Beth was not down and out just yet though hitting Kong with a perfect moonsault knocking Kong to the floor and getting a 2 count from it. As we've seen in the recent weeks Morgan isn't scared of Kong ans this showed when she took her to the top rope and performed a swinging DDT off the top rope but still Kong refused to lay down and this was proved when Kong scooped up Morgan, put her on her shoulders and delivered her a devastating Samoan drop but this was to be Beth Morgan's night as she lay her demons to rest with a horrifically powerful DDT from the top rope pinning Kong for the 3 count.
The Camera cut backstage to the locker room area with M.V.P Doing Squats and warming up for his upcoming Street Fight with Ron Killings. Shortly after in came Mark Henry to give M.V.P A pep talk which was appreciated by him.
M.V.P vs Ron "The Truth" Killings
The second match of the Night featured a street fight between Ron Killings & M.V.P. A battle of two men who have really opened doors for African-American wrestlers everywhere this decade battle it out to become top dog in the yard. A video promo was shot of both mens accomplishments over the years and a berif show of their respectful feud of watching each others backs over the past few weeks until M.V.P took a chair and went to town on Ron Killings from behind this past week leaving him with injured ribs, Ron requested this street fight stating quite openly "This has gone from Respect to Personal in a heartbeat"
The match didn't even make it to the ring, before the music hit Ron attacked MVP with a steel chair to the back of the head and repeatedly hitting him in the ribs while he lay on the floor, pretty much a role reversal of last week. Eventually a ref turned up but the only thing he needed to do was count the 1-2-3 and not stand in the way of the fight if he knew what was good for him. Killings took that advantage early on in the match backstage hitting MVP with anything that was shiny and hard, he then tried a new approach throwing MVP through a office window and laughing at MVP talking trash. MVP did eventually get his chance to shine but not before being put on a forklift and rammed through a lockeroom wall, but when he got his chance damn he took full advantage hitting Killings with a series of blows with a scaffold pipe across the already injured ribs. But it would be Killings who miraculously fought through the possible broken ribs to pick up the victory after a crushing Sit-Out power bomb onto the windscreen of a car which smashed, Killings picked up the 1-2-3 and both men lived to fight another day.
AJ Styles vs Jeff Hardy
This next match didn't need no video promo, it needed no introduction, it was simply Jeff Hardy vs AJ Styles two men who helped make the X Division what it is, two men who opened doors for so many after them, both high flying, risk taking daredevils, two men who didnt know what gravity was, this match was about mutual respect and nothing more, it was hyped so much before the PPV that fans were expecting a candidate for match of the year and by god thats what they got. Both men got fantastic reactions from the crowd on their respective entrances down the ramp, Two ladders were set up outside the ring, neither men really went for the win early on. The match started out with technical moves and a lot of ground moves, classic style wrestling but it didn't take long before they realised they were high flyers. First off the bat was Jeff Hardy with a moonsault over the top rope knocking AJ off his feet completely. Everyone in the arena knew they would see something special from both men Jeff was the first to prove that when he did something so amazing no one could believe it, with AJ groggy on the outside jiff bounced off the ropes and ran to the other side of the ring jumping over the ropes and landing both feet on the already set up ladder then jumped off the top of the ladder and doing a hurricanrana on AJ Styles the crowd went totally crazy chanting "HOLY S**T! HOLY S**T! HOLY S**T!". With that career defining moment out of the way it was time for AJ Styles to show us what he could do, and boy did he ever show us,with both ladders in the ring AJ Set one up and put Jeff sandwiched inside the other ladder AJ then proceeded to climb to the top of the ladder and hit a 450 splash onto the ladder crushing Jeff hardy in the process. Both men lay motionless in the middle of the ring, it was surprisingly Jeff who came to his feet first and for the time began to reach for the belt, Jeff hung to the hoop like a monkey and kicked the ladder from underneath him, there was nothing AJ could do to reach Jeff in time as Jeff brought his feet up to his chest, AJ tried to get the ladder back up but Jeff finally after what seemed like a lifetime up there unhooked the belt and fell to the floor retaining his title. After such a fantastic match both men shook hands and hugged, AJ left the ring out of respect for Jeff to soak in the atmosphere.
Kane vs Abyss
The Demonic Torture Match was the most anticipated match of this companies history for many reasons, first being we had been told what the match set up would be but when it was finally revealed to the world it was more frightening than anything period. The edge of the ring was alight with flames and the ropes were replaced with barb wire and the ring was filled with anything you can think of to inflict pain, steel chairs, dust bins, you name it and it was in that ring even a canister of gasoline on a pole which either man could use once they got it off the pole also a lighter on another pole. I think both Kane and Abyss were scared of this horrible pit there was about to step into, The video package went on to show that the feud between the two was based on a battle to determine who had the sickest mind, unfortunately both these men tested this theory on various superstars over the last few weeks, including the disturbing abduction and torture of X-pac by former friend Kane which is the reason X-Pac is out of action, so to is Triple H after the sick beatdown with a barb wire baseball bat by Abyss last week we will keep you updated on the condition of both men but for now it was back to business as usual. As both Kanes & Abyss stepped into the ring both men took a deep breath as if to say "This is going to hurt" and they were right, so much so that enough blood was lost to donate to an entire hospital wing!
In the early going both men were very caution of what they did and how close they got to either the flames or the fire, but once both men realized they weren't made of glass then it got personal and the fun began. First real "wow" moment of the match came when Abyss carefully climbed both turnbuckles and gained a canister of gasoline and a lighter and proceeded to set up a table and douse it in gasoline and light the table hitting Kane picking up a groggy Kane from the canvas wrapped his hand round his neck and choke slammed him through a flaming table again the familiar chant of "HOLY S**T" engulfed the arena. Kane was no stranger to danger either this was proved when he threw Abyss into the barb wire and tied him up in it and began to smash him over the head with a flaming steel chair wrapped in cloth around the edges, Abyss lay there like there should have been a chalkline around his body. The match had many horrid moments from there such as both men being cut by the barb wire ropes. In the end it was Abyss who picked up the victory if you can call it that, to me both men lost this match and I'm not just talking about the loss of blood. Abyss won in spectacular fashion with a choke slam form the center of the ring into a barb wire flaming table. This match was not for the weak hearted by any means of the word! Both men will surely never be same again and i don't think its over by a long shot! Both men walked away from the match on their own two feet which is always a good sign but i think this match was even to horrific for Kane & Abyss to endure let alone enjoy.
A backstage promo featured Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin gob smacked staring at the TV in amazement at what they just saw from Kane and Abyss, Sabin commented that its matches like that, that make the business what it is today, Shelly agreed and added that he would not put himself through that kind of pain no matter how much he hated someone, Sabin disagreed saying that he would do whatever was needed to please the fans and give them what they want.
Randy Orton vs Dustin Rhodes
This match came about with one mans obsession to destroy a family legacy and another mans desire to exact a painful revenge. Randy Orton boasted time and time again how he single handedly took down the Rhodes family, beating both Dusty and Cody, also punt-kicking both of them in the head, One man took exception, a member of the Rhodes family who Orton has yet to face, Dustin Rhodes, one bad ass superstar who has avoided the punt-kick two weeks in a row from sneak attacks by Randy Orton. Dustin has had his moments as well smashing Orton's skulls three times in a no DQ Word Title match against The Undertaker last week causing Orton to loose his title. The match was set, it has elements of both men, Randy's obsession with kicking things means the winner has to kick all three turnbuckle posts in all four corners of the ring without being stopped, whilst being attached to a rope, the rope was added because of Dusty's legacy and domination in Texas Bull Rope matches. The stage was set for a classic match. As both men were being tied by the ref to each end of the rope an intense stare-down took place between Orton & Rhodes. Both men were determined to make the most they could out of being tied to each other, early on both men had their fair share of using the rope to their advantage of the situation, Rhodes first creating a comedy moment by pulling the rope and tripping over Orton making him angry which caused him to run at Dustin and was tripped over again, Rhodes laughing made it a lot worse, as the tides began to turn Orton seemed to have the upper hand using the rope to strangle the life out of Rhodes, but it was Dustin that went to Punt first he did so by wrapping the rope round his hands and hoisting Orton onto his back but before Rhodes could kick the third corner Orton got onto his feet and delivered a devastating reverse neck breaker to Rhodes and dragged him outside the ring to play, with weapons that is, Orton produced a steel chair from under the ring and began to smash Rhodes violently in the skull about five times, thats when magic happened Rhodes just kept getting back up to his feet and giving Orton the finger another 5 chair shots followed to Rhodes skull which led to him being busted open. Orton dragged Dustin into the ring and picked up the win by punt kicking all corner posts three times. Orton wasn't satisfied with winning the match he wanted to put the surviving member of the Rhodes family out of business and he did it successfully with the most brutal beat down i have seen with a pair of hands, all topped off with that vile punt kick to his head which had destroyed the likes of Dusty Rhodes, RVD and HBK. Orton left smiling and Rhodes left with the EMT's on a stretcher
Christopher Daniels vs Mr Kennedy vs Christian Cage
These three men were thrown together for one reason and one reason only, The Continental Title. Daniels being the odd one out here, he was the only one without an ego, both Cage & Kennedy have clashed many times because of their egos getting in the way, Daniels was lucky enough to get in the title picture after cutting in on the feud claiming both superstars were "boring" and took up to much TV time preventing the likes of him giving the fans what they want. AS a result this 3-Way Match was made for the Title, neither Cage nor Kennedy wanting Daniels in the fold, so match could go either way one way being Cage & Kennedy going after Daniels and fight for the belt them self, or it could be everyman for himself right from the get go. Whatever happened two things were certain, there would be a classic match in the making, and there would be backstabbing. With the title holder not having to be pinned to loose the match made it all more worrying for Kennedy. In the early stages it was just as everyone had expected Cage & Kennedy teaming up to try and take out Daniels and go at it one-on-one, but that didn't last long as ego came into play again when both men performed their respective finishing moves on Daniels, Cage went for the cover and Kennedy dragged him off of Daniels at the count of two, the pair argued for a while, which allowed Daniels to get to his feet and dropkick both men out of the ring. That is where the crowd got what they wanted as Cage & Kennedy turned on each other with a series of blows to the head by each man it was Cage who fell first as the champion proceeded to stomp a mud hole in Cage with Daniels laughing at both men in the ring. The first real near 3-count in the match came when Daniels hit the Angel Wings on Kennedy just as the ref's hand was coming down for a 3 count Cage lunged in the ring and broke up the three count, this was how the match was for a long time with near falls and somehow Cage & Kennedy found a way to team up again. It was still always going to be The Fallen Angel's night and this was proved when a beat down on him by Cage & Kennedy resulted in Daniels just stood up and roared in the face of his opponents snapping in seconds he threw Cage out the ring and Delivered The Angel Wings to Kennedy then got Cage back in the ring and gave him the same treatment. Daniels piled Cage on top of Kennedy both men facing up and delivered the most devastating BME in history pinning both men for the 1-2-3 and becoming the new HIW Continental Champion!
Matt Morgan & Andrew Martin vs Umaga & Jr Fatu
Probably the most suited tag teams and also the most bizzare two teams to face each other, two very different styles, both being powerful but one side brute strength and the otherside pure evil strength. Infact it was a battle for ultimate power that threw this match together, over the recent weeks both teams have had their fair share of victories over the other opponent in single matches, Umaga & Jr Fatu coming out of it with the most wins 3-2 in the best out of five series which involved two singles matches and a tag team match. After winning the titles The Samoan Bullldozers offered a title shot to Team Powerhouse to prove they could not only beat them in single competition but also beat them as a unit. That is how it looked as the match began with Umaga doing things to Andrew Martin that many people thought they would never see, including a Samoan Drop. But as we all know Martin is no push over and he began to build momentum and came right back at Umaga with a series of power slams. It was Umaga & Fatu that dominated by isolating Martin meaning he couldnt make the tag to Morgan. After a long period of time Morgan was eventually tagged in and cleaned house quicker than a bailiff. The match went back and forth with a series of double-teams and near falls. The most powerful moment in the match went to Morgan when he hoisted up Fatu and launched him outside the ring allowing Morgan and Martin to take advantage of a 2-on-1 situation against Umaga. Fatu eventually got to his feet with the title belt in hand and the ref knocked down along with Morgan & Umaga on the deck, attempted to Crack Martin over the head with the Title Belt, Martin ducking and booting Fatu in the face, the ref was revived by Martin and he picked up Umaga and delivered a crucial Pump-Handle Slam and pinned Umaga 1-2-3 and Team Powerhouse became the new HIW World Tag Team Champions.
A promo was cut just before the main event, it was confusing, it was just a black screen then thunder hit and all it said was " In The Main Event Tonight:The Darkside has company" The reaction from the crowd was pretty much the same as the reaction around with world, confused and partly excited, because whatever it meant, we would find out tonight, what could it mean? well we would indeed find out later that night
Sting vs The Undertaker
It was time for the main event, but not before the video promo explained that these two men are from the Darkside and both men want to be on top of the crucifix so to speak, with the HIW World Title on the line it was made all the more important. Taker won the title from Orton after help from Dustin Rhodes, since then Taker has become more obsessed with the title, Sting however has had his mind on other things over the past few weeks, other things being X-Pac, who has decided to make Stings life a misery for some strange reason, When this match was set in stone both men turned their focus to each other, and a series of sickening events over the past few weeks has made this ever so personal, family members have been harmed, homes destroyed, this is what this title means to each man, but more importantly this is what the King of Darkness Title means to them. Putting them inside a cage traps them like their souls are trapped. Both men proceeded down the ramp with chilling entrances that silenced the crowd out of respect, Both men entered the Steel Cage with smiles, smiles that told the world they were going to enjoy extracting blood from their opponent with all this steel. Sting toko the advantage in the early going with a flourish of basic but devastating moves, then it was trademark time for Sting, hitting The Deadman with a Stinger Death Drop, neither men wanted to escape the cage or pin their opponent just yet, this was personal and pain was to be first on the agenda before the title. Then it was Takers turn to do some damage and he did it the most giving Sting Snake Eyes into the cage several times busting him open. The first time either man tried to climb out of the cage they did it together and it was one of the most shocking moments in wrestling history when Taker and Sting exchanged blows sitting on top of the cage, Taker gained an unfair advantage by poking sting in the Eyes, then it happened, Taker proceeded to Choke Slam Sting from the top of the cage with one hand, the whole crowd fell in silence, The Deadman just smiled, and looked at the floor and looked at Sting, and instead of winning the match he went back to Sting to finish him off. The match went on with both men viciously trying to win the match at last, but with both men down on the canvas, then it got weird, the lights went off for a few seconds, as they came back on, A person in a black cloak stood in the middle of the ring, and the cage door had been ripped off, the black cloaked person looked at both men, and helped Sting to his feet, then helped the Undertaker to his feet, both men starred at each other confused, just then the figure Kicked Sting in the Stomach and delivered a horrifying DDT to him, and pointed to Stings body at the Undertaker, Taker pinned Sting for the 1-2-3 To regain his title. The crowd were still in amazement at what had just happened, Taker walked up to the figure and ripped the hood off of him, IT WAS RAVEN! WHAT THE HELL! Raven was dressed underneath the cloak as he took it off in all black attire and black eyeshadow what could this mean? Him and the Undertaker laughed and hugged and raised each others hand, But what did it mean? have they joined Forces? Does Raven have something against Kane? Tune in next week to find out
