has WWE risen past the point of the old adage "Wrestling is cyclical"?

Do you think it is possible?

What if WWE's growth and domination of all competition in the late 90s leading to the empire we see today leads to wrestling just staying put where it is? It seems logical to me. WWE is too big to fail at this point (inb4gov'tbailout) and it has gotten to the point where it is like WWE is actually bigger than pro wrestling itself if that makes sense.

I ask because when watching the current product (and bitching about it) many people cling to this old line of thinking that wrestling goes in cycles at that eventually the WWE product will be geared towards dweebs like us and not children.

But I ask, in 2013 what makes us so sure this will ever happen? WWE is making money 15 different ways from Sunday and improving their image in the eye of the public 100% while doing so... I don't ever see a reason that kids would stop being interested in wrestling, and as long as they buy the DVDs, toys, dolls, pillow cases, dildos, or whatever, WWE is sitting pretty. People say WWE will have to adjust when their young fans become teenagers, but why? Our birthrate in this country isn't slowing down any and plenty of 3-10 year olds will always exist. The aging fans will either turn into fans like we are or do what rational people do and move on from wrestling.

Am I missing something or what unforeseen event can change the path they are on? HHH taking over and just wanting to be true to the roots of wrestling is maybe one answer, say once Vince is totally out of the picture, but even that seems like a stretch. I could see him meeting the 'real' fans halfway, but that's about it.

I don't think it will ever be completely geared towards us. Like you stated, they're making sooooooo much money nowadays bro. MAYBE Trips will meet us halfway, but I don't see him going further than that. It sucks.

As long as kids parents are willing to pay for ppv's and shitty merch, the WWE will stay how it is. I don't see things changing anytime soon.

It's not "too big to fail", but they're doing what's right. They already are meeting the fans halfway. There's still the Cena main events and gimmicks to please the kiddies, but there's also Punk and Bryan + Cesaro swings + awesome tag wrestling + guys like Big E who the fans as a whole can get behind. With some changes to Creative the adults should be more satisfied than they have been in years.

But the times have changed. They pretty much have to cater to kids because the vast majority of adults hate the product and are "above" pro wrestling, while the die-hard adult fans that are left stream pay-per-views. So keeping the kids happy is the best thing to get new fans and PPV buys, and I don't see that changing... then again, keeping us adult fans like us happy is also important for the TV ratings, so the best thing they can do is what they're doing now from a roster standpoint
