It is time for Beavie's latest hot take, although one I see people sharing. Despite the fact that I don't watch week in and week out, I can't deny that right now, Kofi Kingston is now one of the hottest acts in the company through one week of Ironman performances, and a final two finish in the Elimination Chamber. Kofi Kingston has been probably one of the more reliable mid-card talents in the company, and aside from one push in 2009 where Randy Orton killed it, "Stupid," has been kept mostly to the United States and Intercontinental Title as a singles wrestler, and especially in the past few years, has been relegated to the tag team scene where he is a focal point of New Day (and has held the tag titles longer than anyone else in the company). He's quietly formed a Hall of Fame-worthy career ala those who haven't been world champ, but is it time to change that?
If there is any time to potentially capitalize on Kofi Kingston as a WWE World Champion, this may be the time and he may even be the first African American WWE Champion (aside from the Rock who is half-African American and half Samoan). When? At Wrestlemania perhaps?
Looking at the WWE title scene on Smackdown, it may be one of their best bets. With AJ Styles just facing Daniel Bryan a few times for the title and likely facing Randal Kieth...Randal Randal Kieth, namanamina, he's out at Mania. Then Mustafa Ali, who likely would have been in the Kofi spot if he wasn't injured, is hurt so he is out. Would Samoa Joe work after all those high profile loses? No. Is Jeff Hardy ready for another WWE title push? No. Andrade ("Cien" Almas)? He's a heel and is still fighting Rey Mysterio which rules both of them out. Kofi Kingston likely the best bet to face Daniel Bryan and it may be a great story to tell.
Beavie's Random Story Idea!:
At Fast Lane, there can be a number one contender's match which Kofi can win, then the build can easily start as Daniel Bryan's normal radical veganism, blasting Kofi and New Day for "clogging the arteries of the WWE Universe" and New Day counter it with their normal shenanigans until Rowan and Daniel Bryan shut them up with a Beat-Down. Then The New Day, and Kofi specifically, can turn things to be a bit serious. They can bring up the parallels of him and "The Old" Daniel Bryan, being an underdog who never really had the company behind him. Say that the reason "The New" Daniel Bryan is scared of Kofi Kingston is because he's scared of "The Old" Daniel Bryan in Kofi, thus driving Daniel Bryan mad. I think the story may be great, the match may be great, and someone breaking the glass ceiling at the expense of someone else who did it at Wrestlemania after turning to the dark side, would be such a great moment.
What do you think? Do you think Kofi can work in the WWE title match at Wrestlemania and if he is in the match, should he win? Feel free to give your ideas and if your named after an animal and turn this into a thread bashing "neckbeard, incel, smarks," then I will unleash a rabbid Beaver, okay?
