Has Edge lost his...edge

In early 2006 Edge was argueably the #1 guy in the business. One of the few guys to defeat Cena for the championship. He got put on great promos, he could put on match of the night almost any night. Created Rated RKO, and the sky was the limit for this budding superstar.

In 2007 things started to turn downhill. Still a major superstar but the crowd reactions and matches just werent the same. He was great, but Raw didnt have room for him, so they shipped him to SD to "take over" Which he did until injuried. Returned only to have the world championship put on him again. But this is where the problem started. Edge is now in love with Vickie Guerrero. He just doesnt seem the same anymore. Its bad storylines mixed with Smackdowns more family based programming. I personally think it has affected Edge, even though he is HW champ at the moment.

What do you guys think, has Edge's character taken a few steps back??

I just think that the storyline with Vickie has been in an impass. It was the same, Vickie and Edge love each other and....nothing. They screwed Batista, Taker and Rey. Soon, the originality and the Eddie backlash was losing from the storyline.

I think that the promo ability has always been there. He delivers week in and week out. Now, with the new twist on the storyline with the possible marriage, now the storyine is suddenly reactivated. Edge delivered once again a great promo, marriage brought once again the "Eddie" feeling on fans.

It's just a thing that Edge needs to be kept active and moving. Not in a same feud and storyline too long because it then becames the same

Edge i think at his wedding whenever that is will turn on vickie. He then will go into wrestlemania 24 on a high. With him screwing vickie i think he will become the old heel edge more momentum and maybe a sick and twisted side to him. I think wwe are doing it on purpose and know he slosing steam but are building him up for his screw job over vickie.

^That doesn't really make a lot of sense though. I mean Vickie is a heel, people hate her, so I think Edge turning on her wouldn't actually get her that much heel heet. I don't think this thing will end until post-WM. I still think that it'll be Edge-Vickie vs. Taker or Batist/Long which the winner getting control of SD! and the WHC. If Edge loses then things will break down w/ him and vickie and then it'll end.

Don't you think it could another way around though? I mean what if Edge turns on her and does something like hurt her then surely Edge's heat will just rise cause of emotionally and physically hurting a woman.

Well I will give you that, if he physically hurts her than that would be very different. However I still feel that the fans really hate her because of the whole Eddie thing. But, I still would categorize as her as a heel imo.

I really don't think this is a bad storyline. It's gross, but overall I like the stable he's set up with the Edge heads, Chavo, and Vickie. I think this is going to be a fairly long term deal though. Whenever you set up some kind of stable it usually lasts a good while so I don't think he can just cut off that relationship he has with his stable so I'd expect this to run at least into the summer.

Say what you say, but you can't deny Edge is still getting heat. The boos were so loud during his proposal. Altough the segment was confusing as Rey acted as the heel and Edge as the face(after the attack)

To me, it's that nobody really thinks Rey could defeat Edge, so he gets no real heat during their exchanges. It was a different story when feuding Batista and will be when feuding Taker

^^thats true. and theres reason to the fact that no-one thinks rey wont beat edge. he wont. but edge does generate a lot of heat. i used to enjoy his promos so much more though

^I agree that he might have made better promos in the past, but as CMS said the heat that he is getting from this is absolutely nuts. When he came to the ring the first time with Vickie I seriously thought that people were going to either start throwing shit at him or just run into the ring and kick his ass. It isn't absolutely perfect storyline, but the heel he is generating here is great for him and in the long run will be good for his heel resume.

Like I said, the problem it's not the storyline, because when you can generate heel out of saying "I love you", you know that you have a controversy storyline.

When the challenger becomes someone else than Re, you will see the change. Besides, this storyline with Rey has the stupidity that Mysterio is not only fighting for the gold, but for the Guerrero name, and well, he isn't a Guerrero
