Has anyone ever been "catfished"?

With the news about Mante T'au and his fake girlfriend. It begs the question has anyone on here ever been duped by someone on the Internet? Like did someone pretend to be someone they were not? On a personal one on one level?

You know in light of it all, online relationships are a huge gamble and personally harder than actually dating off the net. IMHO the internet allows the person to put up a facade way easier so why I have talked to women online it never went further than talking. You never know she could be the new craigslist killer waiting to chop your dick off and throw it at a stop sign.

Ill be one to admit I've dated someone online for couple of years. He was from the uk and me from the us was abit difficult but we managed to communicate online through messenger and on mobile. I've seen pics of him..he was a bit of a heavy, scrawny guy, but the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He loved me so much that he wanted badly to move down here so we can be closer together, but sadly that never happened. It was,one of those things where you want to make it work but at the same time its not easy when the person isn't actually there, so we called it quit and he is seeing someone else. This happened awhile back and I always wondered what if. What if I continued this relationship with this person and decided to contact MTVs Catfish to see if he was the real deal or not
