Australia, August 15, 2007 - IGN AU just came out of interviews with Lars Bakken (Multiplayer Designer) and Frank O'Connor (Writing Lead) at Bungie. Straight from Lars, here's the description of the newest map, 'Narrows':

"It's a Forerunner structure. It's embedded in this cliff wall and it's a bridge. Imagine the - if you're familiar with Halo 1 - imagine the bridge from Assault on the Control Room, expanded, and made for multiplayer, so it's got multiple levels and each side has kind of a dug in section, and it's mirrored so on one side of each of the bases there's actually a Man Cannon, and if both sides take it at the same time they'll actually meet in mid-air, which is pretty cool.

"There are multiple areas that you fight over; there are some power weapons in the centre of the map. I'll give you guys a heads-up right now - there's actually a rocket launcher on top and a shotgun on the lowest level dead centre of the map, so when you guys play it tonight you'll have a little extra edge on the competition…"

We'll have full hands-on impressions of Narrows, as well as the two interviews and some hot event coverage coming tomorrow and into Monday. Stay tuned.

Narrows - a multi-level Forerunner structure with twin man-cannons that can cause players to collide in mid-air.

The bridge is set into two cliff walls over a cloudy void in the mountains.

That new map is awesome but this could be the most overhyped game of all time.

Australia, August 16, 2007 - Last night was Microsoft's opportunity to honour its upcoming instant-classic shooter, Halo 3 - a predictably fun and booze-fuelled affair. IGN AU was in attendance to get hands-on with the single-player game (Tsavo Highway) in 4-player co-op mode, as well as try out the latest multiplayer map, Narrows. Previews of both will be up soon.

A few pieces of Australia-specific news came out of the evening. First of all, the Halo 3-edition Xbox 360 will definitely get a local release. The system will go on sale five days before Halo 3, on September 20th, and will be available for a recommended retail price of AU $679.95. Check out our feature for pictures and details.

Perhaps the coolest part of the night was the chance to rub shoulders with two of Bungie's finest - Lead Writer Frank O'Connor and Multiplayer Designer Lars Bakken. O'Connor and Bakken led two groups, Red and Blue appropriately, through a guided tour of Tsavo Highway - a never-before-seen level from the campaign.

Anyone buy it?

Thoughts?

I was at the gamestop and saw at least 2 dozen people buy the regular, limited edition, and Master Chief edition.

I guess that's why its being dubbed "he greatest selling game of all time"...everyone buying 3 copies of the game.

But seriously the game is awesome, and I highly recommend for anybody who plays videogames.

If the year ended today its the game of the year in my book.

9.9/10

I heard that on some verisons of the game the disc was scratched due to the case, but Micosoft will replace the scratched discs for free.

Haha, mayne if I get anything at midnight, its cause I just woke up then, and was bored, hahaha. Halo 3 is tight as hell though, Its short tho, I love it on legendary, you can play all day n night, but like I said it was short, me and my bro who lives in phoenix 7 hours away from when Im at, were on it on legendary and got past half the game, well to past the spider, and to where the flood comes in on numba 3. Its fun as hell online and if you get bored, just crank up the difficulty. The maps are smooth, storyline is bomb, that shit aka....ya dig. Short, but It took me twice as long to beat it than Gears of War, which is a 1 day game for yall madd gamers, PICK UP HALO 3 IF YA GOT A 360, and if not, well, my bad, yall is fukked!!!!!

It seems short because we all rushed to complete it. Make no bones about it though, this game is immense.
