Well, I just got back from the ER. Me and a buddy of mine had a challenge to see who could lift the most wait on the hexbar deadlift... Well anyway, I got about 550 LBS almost all the way up, and my ankle gave out. Ended up with a sprained ankle, so there goes the rest of my basketball season, and a valuable ammount of wrestling time :/

I find it silly to challenge someone else in weightlifting without being a professional.
Anyway, good luck recovering :D

I'm not a professional, but I've been doing it for almost 8 years now @[Tzesi].

Thanks for the recovery wish :D

Deadlifts are very dangerous. You really shouldn't had played around with that exercise.

Hope your recovery goes well pal. Getting injured sucks. What's your expected recovery time?

@[Goldberg] Deadlifts aren't really dangerous as long as you do them correctly. It's when people lift with bad form they get injured usually. Sometimes though accidents do happen.

I have actually never been injured before lifting weights, and I've been doing it for 8 years now, 5 days a week.

@[seabs], my expected recovery time is about 6 weeks the doc said.

Ouch so painful... I remember when I was ravin' hard and I ended up with Shin Splint, I literally had to crawl ever where for two weeks.

Yeah, it sucks, but injuries happen, even to the best. I guess I'll be working a lot more on my upper body now.

That's a great amount that you tried lifting. Best of luck in your road to recovery, though.

Well actually, it's only 50 LBS above my usual weight, but I've also never have tried doing more than my usual weight.

Completely off topic but do you find the hex bar to be better then a regular bar for deads and squats?

Yes, because you're using your arms and legs, and also, if you have bad balance, Hexbar is the way to go. Now, if you're doing box squats, that's working your whole body, (Where you sit on the box and stand up quickly). That actually hurts pretty bad, but that hurt is a good thing.
