11/07/2007: Looking at the state Sports Entertainment is currently in, Hulk Hogan, one of the pioneers of professional wrestling, one of the faces of professional wrestling, decides it’s time for a change, it’s time for a new breeze in sports entertainment. He makes a few calls to some of his good, but more importantly, wealthy friends and some important issues get discussed.

11/12/2007: Hulk Hogan organizes a press conference along with Sylvester Stallone and Greg Gagne. Hogan announces that starting very soon, Stallone, Gagne and himself will begin preparations for a business-project that is set to change the world of Sports Entertainment forever. Hogan claims that Stallone, Gagne and himself have enough money to start a new professional wrestling promotion big enough to compete with the likes of TNA® and WWE®.

Insider reports indicate that a new promotion, lead by Hulk Hogan, is shaping up rapidly and it’s looking bigger than the world of Sports entertainment first expected. It is said that talks with several networks over a TV deal have already started and that it won’t take long for a deal to pop up. Also, insiders in the two major Wrestling promotions, WWE and TNA, indicate that several talents are interested to see where this project goes and would not be reluctant to an interesting contract offer.

11/20/2007: Hulk Hogan, along with Sylvester Stallone and Greg Gagne, organizes another press conference. He announces with a lot of pride that Stallone, Gagne and himself have founded an all new company in Professional Wrestling, called Global Wrestling Enterprise®. He announces that a TV deal will soon be completed and that contract discussion with various talent throughout the United States will commence soon.

My (user)name is Alcoholic and I'm definitely not new to BTB. It's my first ever project on this site though (this even being my first ever post) and I'll try to make the best of it. I've seen that BTB at this site is very lively and I would like to be a part of the experience. Anyways, more news bites coming up soon.

nice little backstory, with Hogan, Gagne and Stallone running a promotion, that's pretty interesting. Looking forward to see who's on your roster. I have a feeling that this could be good, hope you stick with it.

A pretty unique backstory, I am curious expecting on how will Hogan, Gagne and Stallone work together and build a kind of a company like this.

Backstory looks good, It's always good to see how people think Hogan would run a show. Maybe add a roster if you have one.

I've decided to post a big chunk of news at once, so we can get going with shows as soon as possible.
11/25/2007: Hulk Hogan is proud to announce that GWE has come to terms with the ESPN network over a Television deal. The deal contains of a 3 month contract for a weekly one-hour show. At first it would appear as though ESPN doesn’t have too much confidence in the new Wrestling promotion, but on the contrary, it was Hogan himself who demanded only a three month television deal. He said the company has the potential to grow out to one of the biggest companies in Sports Entertainment, and so it’s best to only have a three month contract, containing a weekly one-hour show. That way, when the company would indeed be a huge success, a two hour television deal for a longer period of time can easily be discussed.

11/29/2007: Hulk Hogan and Greg Gagne announce that talent contract discussions have started and that in fact two superstars have already signed a 3-month contract. Who those superstars are, however, isn’t clear as of this point. Meanwhile, Sylvester Stallone has announced that he will be putting full commitment into the GWE project and will put his producing/acting responsibilities on the shelf for now. He also announces that the GWE project will go into full throttle as of January 31st, which is a Thursday. This will in fact be the debut of the GWE show, which doesn’t have a name at this juncture. All this means that GWE will immediately go head to head with TNA Impact! at it’s first episode. What the effect of this will be is yet to be seen.

11/31/2007: GWE is proud to announce its first four wrestlers that signed a 3-month contract. Those superstars being Juventud Guerrera, Psicosis, Super Crazy and Sean Waltman, better known as X-pac.

12/1/2007: GWE has signed its first Big Name wrestler. Carlito Caribbean Cool has signed a three month contract with the all new promotion. Carlito was said to be very unhappy in WWE and was said to be relieved to have found a new place to go to. The signing of Carlito by GWE is a kicks in the nuts of TNA, to say the least.

12/3/2007: Another big name has signed with GWE. This time it is none other than The Big Show, Paul Wight. Paul had been a free agent for some time but declared that he would be a fool not to work with his mentor Hulk Hogan in his new promotion.

12/4/2007: A new batch of superstars have signed 3-month contracts with GWE. No less than 6 wrestlers have all agreed on joining the brand new promotion of Hulk Hogan. The wrestlers involved are the duo of Doug and Danny Basham, Kid Kash, Mark Jindrak, Matt Sydal and Scott Taylor(better know as Scotty Too Hotty).

12/7/2007: Perhaps one of the biggest signings of GWE to date has happened today. Hulk Hogan’s company has signed none other than Rob Van Dam! RVD had been out of WWE for a while and was indicating he would be signing with TNA, but that obviously didn’t happen as now he has signed with Global Wrestling Entertainment. The new company keeps growing everyday, with new signings, each one bigger than the last.

12/12/2007: GWE has signed yet another wrestler. Frankie Kazarian, better known as Kaz from TNA has signed a 3-month contract with GWE. This comes as somewhat a surprise, as Kazarian was said to be in for a push within TNA.

Could it be that GWE immediately makes a huge statement within the Sports Entertainment business? Hulk Hogan is said to be very interested in opening a developmental territory ala Ohio Valley Wrestling or Florida Championship Wrestling. Hogan says that with a developmental territory his company would be ensured with topnotch talent that, if trained well, could be called up anytime when necessary. It is unclear at this time whether Hogan wants to start his own developmental territory or buy out an existing one.

12/21/2007: And another few wrestlers have signed three month contracts with GWE. This time, two females have decided to engage in the GWE project. The two female wrestlers are Jillian Hall and Torrie Wislon. And Torrie isn’t coming alone, she’s bringing her husband Billy Kidman along with her.

12/24/2007: Christmas eve has brought the GWE a present, as another wrestler has signed a contract with GWE. This time it’s WWE’s recently released Ken Doane who has signed a 3 month deal. Doane was seen as one of the rising stars within WWE, but never really made it to the big leagues. Now he will attempt to do just that within GWE.

12/26//2007: The WWE has come to terms with Rey Mysterio Jr. about his release from the company. This comes as a big shock to both the fans and the sports entertainment world as a whole. Will Mysterio continue to wrestle or will he hang up his boots forever? Only time will tell.

12/27/2007: With the discussion of where Rey Mysterio’s career will go, brewing, the GWE meanwhile, have not been sitting still. They have contracted yet another wrestler. This time it’s James Gibson, better known as Jamie Noble, who has engaged in the GWE project. GWE has now put 19 talents, both male and female, under its wings.

12/30/2007: Rey Mysterio Jr. has made a public announcement concerning his future. He will indeed keep on wrestling in another promotion. What that promotion will be is yet to be unveiled. When asked if he would go to TNA or GWE, he said “I will make that announcement soon enoughâ€. Another possibility is Mysterio going to Japan or Mexico, wrestling on the lower levels. Fact of the matter remains, Mysterio will not hang up his boots.

The Roster is really starting to take shape. Not really sure about Big Show though when looking at the rest of the roster, since the rest are really small compared to him.

Drop a review at WWE: Trio Brand Wars if you get a chance

01/03/2008: A new year, a new wrestling promotion coming to life. Hulk Hogan, along with Sylvester Stallone and Greg Gagne, are proud to announce that their project, Global Wrestling Enterprise, will go full speed as of January 31st. That will be the actual date the first ever GWE show will go on the air, on the ESPN network. The trio mentioned that the GWE project is being finalized, in terms of administration, talent, personnel and financials. They finally added that the world would be in awe when GWE will have its first broadcast.

01/05/2008: The GWE has revealed that it will hold its first ever show in California, more precisely in Los Angeles. The illustrious Staples Centre will host the debut show of the Global Wrestling Enterprise and that may come as a surprise to some. GWE is an all new company, but immediately takes it to the big leagues, to the Staples Centre, a virtual wrestling museum. Hulk Hogan, owner of GWE, is full of confidence about this first show being an immediate hit. “The Staples Centre will be sold out and all those Hulkamaniacs will go crazy for the best show in the whole world, brother!â€, Hogan said. Tickets will go on sale January 6th.

01/08/2008: Rey Mysterio has made his decision. His future is now written in stone. Rey Mysterio Jr. has decided to join Global Wrestling Enterprise! The world of wrestling is certainly surprised by this turn of events, as many sources indicated Mysterio would either go to TNA or to Mexico. This didn’t happen, obviously, as Mysterio has decided to join forces with Hulk Hogan and his enterprise. It has to be acknowledged that the GWE is the fastest rising company within the world of Sports Entertainment and they haven’t even aired a show!

01/10/2008: We have gotten insight on the entire management of GWE. This is how GWE management will look like:

Chairman: Hulk Hogan
Creative: Hulk Hogan, Dusty Rhodes, Mike Bucci
Personal Relations: Sylvester Stallone
Administration: Greg Gagne
Road Agents: Dusty Rhodes, Scott Hall, Jimmy Hart

Other notable personnel is Mean Gene Okerlund(interviewer),Steve Romero(interviewer), Justin Roberts(ring announcer), Joey Styles(commentator) and Mike Bucci(commentator).

It looks like GWE is fully ready to shock the Sports Entertainment!

01/15/2008: GWE continues to grow big in the World of Wrestling. Hulk Hogan was proud to announce that he had bought out FCW, a developmental promotion of WWE. Florida Championship Wrestling will now serve as a developmental territory to GWE. Hogan said the wrestlers involved in the company would be able to work for any independent promotion, but should always be ready to be called up to the big stage. Some FCW wrestlers have decided to go along with GWE, probably because they don’t want to leave Florida, or because they believe GWE is the future of Sports Entertainment. Others have decided to stay with the WWE and go to other developmental territories. The roster is as follows:

Harry Smith
Teddy Hart
T.J. Wilson
Ted Dibiase Jr.
Cody Rhodes
Nick Hogan
Kofi Kingston
Nic Nemeth
Mike Mondo
Paul Burchall
Seth Skyfire
Johnny Jeter

Nattie Niedhart
Lacey Von Erich
Brooke Hogan

With the additions of Nick and Brooke Hogan to the roster, one has to believe they will someday play a huge role in father Hogan’s enterprise.

01/19/2008:Chief of Personal relations within GWE, Sylvester Stallone has announced that GWE’s weekly show, that will air for the first time Thursday 31st of January, will be called GWE Dynamite!. Stallone added that Dynamite! will be a name that will cause shockwaves throughout the entire world of Sports Entertainment.

01/21/2008: With just more than one week to go till the first ever GWE Dynamite, Sylvester Stallone is proud to announce that the Staples Centre has been completely sold out! It looks like Hulkamania is far from dead and it can still draw a huge crowd. Will the GWE indeed cause shockwaves throughout Sports Entertainment? One has to believe it will.

01/22/2008: The official website of GWE has been launched. The obvious address is [GWE.com]. On the site is an article about Hulk Hogan’s idea of starting a new promotion, as well as a brief interview with the other owners and creators of the company. Also, the site states that the Dynamite! logo will be revealed at the first Dynamite! episode, Thursday 31st of January, 8/7ct at ESPN!

There we go. That's the last chunk of news leading up to the creation of GWE. I'll post a full roster etc...soon and after that, the thread can finally kick it into gear with the first show.

Your roster looks pretty good so far, a nice combo of vets and young guys. FCW looks pretty nice too, this should be good.

This looks to be pretty damn awesome. Brooke & Nick signing in developement is real cool, and could lead to a fued? The Hogans (Hulk, Nick, Linda, Brooke) vs. McMahons (Vince, Shane, Stephanie, Linda) Cant wait for the first show. Surprised no guys like Macho Man didn't sign, or Bischoff, Nash. But it's still cool.
