Dana White has told Yahoo! Sports that the highly anticipated rematch between UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre and UFC Lightweight CHampion BJ Penn will most likely take place on January 31st, 2009 when the UFC holds is annual Superbowl Saturday show.

MMANews.com first had the scoop on the proposed move to Superbowl Weekend last week when sources close to the Penn camp told us that although BJ was training for a December fight, the superfight would most likely happen in early 2009.

St. Pierre, who defeated Penn is a three round classic at UFC 58, has also gone on record and stated that he needed a well earned rest after fighting 4 times in 13 months. He told RDS.ca that he looked to return to action in early 2009.

Damn, this is going to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history I imagine. They always pull out all of the stops on Superbowl Weekend, I can't imagine how insane this fight will be. This is going to be something to see for sure.

I'm glad they're doing this. I hate the Super Bowl anyway. Commercials are the focal point and that means you have 40 year old women talking during the game anyway. Better yet, the beer bellied golfer.

This fight is going to be amazing. These are 2 of the best in the world now.

lmao, Lesnar worked Superbowl weekend last year, he sold that show big time, now that he can actually win, they should put him on the card again. Have a decent HW name for him and they can slug it out. Between that and GSP/Penn, that PPV would be sick.

I definitely can't wait for this PPV. It's no doubt going to be the first UFC PPV I purchase and since it's going to be the Super Bowl weekend PPV its going to be amazing no doubt and well worth the pay.

Is there any other confirmed or rumored matches for this? Would this be UFC 94 or 95?
