One of the best disaster movies I've seen in a while. Characters you actually care about that feel real. They do a really good job with the character development & for the most part it's less about the disaster, more about how people are affected by it. You see the good / bad of people in a survival situation. I enjoyed how stressed out the movie makes you feel, it's very exciting, keeps you engaged the entire time. Especially when the family gets split up and have to find their way back to each other. When the disaster scenes do happen they look good & the special effects are great, not too overdone or silly looking. Thought Gerard Butler was amazing in this. Ended up being a way more serious mode than I initially expected.
