I'd say while Austin's 01 is stellar as far as in-ring work is concerned, he had a pretty mediocre 2002 before retiring fully in 03, so by default it kind of has to be MJF.

2001 Austin is probably the best of both mens centuries. But MJF probably has the next 7 years.

2022 Austin was great too. But it was 1 match.


MJF has to get this but I think it's closer than we all thing (still not too close but closer than a runaway).

The two man power trip era for Austin is underrated IMO. I know people never quite got on board with him as a heel, but he enjoyed playing the role and I think that came across.

The thing is though, that I also had to think about this one.

Yea, it's easy to say Austin didn't had much of a run this century, but I've seen MJF only since early 2022, so when it comes to that, they are pretty much even for me. If I go by Matches they had during their times (I've seen them), then Austin would have far more Matches under his belt, than MJF had. Heck, MJF probably still has less Matches in the last 5 years, than Austin had in his round about 2 years of a full run. ...but I digress. It's not just about that.

I do think Austin's paranoid heel run is one of the most underrated runs of all time, especially when it comes to the character work and I do think a short run can still be way, way better than a run that was three or four times as long, but I still went with MJF here and this is due to the quality of work in the ring. It was a way tougher decision than I first thought though.

Yeah I'm not as annoyed at Austin winning here even tho I didn't vote him bc MJF didn't have two decades of work or anything either but we'll see how next round goes lol
