UFC lightweight contender, Gray Maynard has tonight revealed in his mind he still has unfinished business with former champion, Frankie Edgar after both men walked away with a win each in their three fight series (the third being a draw) and that at some point the pair will have to climb back into the octagon to settle the score once and for all.
Speaking via Heavy.com, Maynard said:
“The title has always been the goal. I would love to have the belt and somewhere along the line, get another fight with Edgar with the title on the line. We are 1-1-1 and we need to settle it once and for all. It has to happen eventually, and after that fight we can both be done. We can walk away knowing it’s over and that we gave MMA fans some great fights to look back on.”
Maynard hasn’t been seen since losing to then champion, Frankie Edgar at UFC 136 in October, going down in the fourth round via TKO. Prior to that he’d almost captured the title from Edgar, battling to a controversial draw in January, 2011.
He can want to fight Frankie for the title all he wants, but that's never going to happen again because Edgar's not going to win the Championship back from Benson.
And if these two do end up fighting for the 34048032th time, Edgar would win anyways.
