On 6/22, WWE abandoned their trademark registration for “Balor Club.” The official status of the trademark is now listed as “abandoned – after publication.”
WWE originally filed for the trademark in April 2015 and filed for it again in January of this year with the U.S. Trademark office and it was in “oppose to register” status until this past week. Apparently, there was a conflict with Baylor University and that’s why WWE was not able to get ownership. Baylor Club is a private club located in Waco, TX’s McLane Stadium and is owned by Baylor University.
The filing from January was listed as being for goods and services related to “Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment; fan club services in the field of sports entertainment; organizing and staging entertainment events with wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely, blogs, in the fields of sports entertainment.”
I guess we’ll see if they stick with “The Club” name or if they try registering a new name. The company also recently abandoned the “Legion Of Doom” trademark. I presume that was originally planned for “The Authors Of Pain.”
