Goldberg and the spear are synonymous. The explosive running tackle existed before, but no one delivered it quite like Goldberg, whose dominance made it iconic in WCW and WWE. Now, as Goldberg prepares to retire against Gunther at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, he wants only one wrestler to carry the move forward: Bron Breakker.

Several WWE superstars use the spear in different ways, including Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair and Jey Uso. But Breakker's version is something to marvel at -- he strikes with devastating momentum.

The Undertaker recently said Breakker should have sole ownership of the move, a sentiment echoed by Goldberg, a fellow Hall of Famer.

"I had the conversation last night with Bron," Goldberg told CBS Sports. "I told him my feelings on it, that I think, 1,000%, he's the only human being in WWE that should be doing that. I know I'll catch a lot of hell for that, but I don't care. That's the truth. It is what it is."

Goldberg's rise from rookie to world champion is unparalleled. He exploded onto the scene in 1997, riding a 173-match winning streak that propelled him to the top of WCW during its ratings war with WWE. His two most devastating moves were the jackhammer and the spear.

Goldberg credits the late "Dr. Death" Steve Williams for using the move before him, but said WWE superstars started adopting it in response to Goldberg's innovation.

"Let's talk about the reason why everyone started doing the spear in the WWE," Goldberg said. "It doesn't take rocket science to figure it out. Let's be perfectly honest, they did it to make mine look bad or downplay it."

Check out the full interview with Goldberg below.

Goldberg, 58, will dig deep into his arsenal one last time when he challenges world heavyweight champion Gunther in Atlanta. It's his first match since losing to Roman Reigns five years ago. Expect a few more thunderous spears before officially passing the torch to Breakker.

I think Bron’s spear is better than Goldberg’s spear at this point. I don’t think Roman’s spear is that bad either tbh.

Fuck you, Bill. Go to the other old farts, who don't know shit, but think the world owes them everything.

Most people, who do it, are better workers than you were and half the people make it look better too.

I mean we should all be fair.

Dude is not at all wrong. Bron has (I think inarguably) the best spear in wrestling. It's so good that nobody in WWE should be doing it.

Sure hate on Goldberg all you want but in this one instance nothing here is incorrect.

You telling Roman he can’t use the spear anymore? Didn’t think so

Roman is hardly an active performer at this point. Dude's 9/10ths retired.

And I am saying Bron does it way better.

We all know that he does it better but saying Bron’s the only one that should allowed to use it is fucking dumb. Also Roman is still active and wrestling so he counts.

On top of that it's just Bill's attitude that, imo, simply disqualifies him from being taking serious when it comes to him uttering his opinions on things like movesets, characters etc.

I mean... he doesn't care about Wrestling or the overall Wrestling business. He never had (unless it has to do with himself) and never will. He's out there complaining about how everyone who did using the move after him, only did it to make him look bad or downplay the move, when the Spear was at one point one of the most over and well-protected moves in the business. (Yes, I'm talking about Edge)

Again, he comes over like an old, washed up Wrestler, who thinks half the talent in the whole biz owes him a lot and especially in his case, with his in-ring performance and that feeling you get about him never really caring for Wrestling itself, no young talent (especially when it's talent which trajectory goes right towards the Main Event scene for years to come) should give a rats ass about what Bill thinks about your or your colleagues work in- and outside the ring.

And just for the record, I know I sound like I have a vendetta or something... I always liked Goldberg as a talent in general. Heck, I got a huge kick out of his return, kicking Brock's ass like it's nothing. ...but man, he's one of those guys, no one should listen too, because quite frankly he did not earned it.
