It was announced last week that Gold Coast beat Hambantota, Sri Lanka for the right to host the Games. Australia has a good record at hosting the games the last time being Melbourne in 2006. The key to the bid was that most of the facilities were already there in Gold Coast and very few new buildings need to be built.

Will be a good boost to the Gold Coast to host the event and it should make for a nice event. I always find it fun to watch the Commonwealth Games simply because Australia seem to win every second event.
