Gleison Tibau vs. Pat Healy booked for UFC Fight Night 45 in New Jersey
The UFC’s return to Atlantic City has another lightweight tussle on tap.
Gleison Tibau (28-10 MMA, 13-8 UFC) will meet Pat Healy (29-19 MMA, 0-4 UFC) on the UFC Fight Night 45 card this summer. UFC officials recently announced the new booking for Atlantic City, N.J.
UFC Fight 45 takes place July 16 at Revel Casino Hotel. The main event is a 155-pound bout between Donald Cerrone and New Jersey native and resident Jim Miller. The main card will air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims set to stream on UFC Fight Pass.
Tibau will be looking to get back on track after having a modest two-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of Michael Johnson this past December. Johnson picked up a second-round TKO at UFC 168 in Las Vegas. Prior to that, the 21-fight UFC vet had a submission win over John Cholish and a split-decision victory over Jamie Varner. He also lost a split call to Evan Dunham to open his 2013 campaign, leaving him 2-2 for the year.
Healy, though, may have his UFC tenure hanging in the balance. After a five-fight streak in Strikeforce, he came to the UFC in the merger of the two promotions and picked up a solid upset win over Jim Miller at UFC 159. But he tested positive for marijuana and had that victory – and his $130,000 in bonus money – taken away.
After that, it’s been a rough go of things for “Bam Bam†against three more solid lightweights. He has dropped unanimous decisions to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Bobby Green and, most recently, Jorge Masvidal less than three weeks ago at UFC on FOX 11 in Orlando.
With the addition, UFC Fight Night 45 now includes:
Donald Cerrone vs. Jim Miller
Pat Healy vs. Gleison Tibau
John Howard vs. Rick Story
John Lineker vs. Alptekin Ozkilic
Aljamain Sterling vs. Hugo Viana
