Any subscriber's?

As for myself I personally love the magazine, always good info front to back and well worth the read each time. They claim to be the #1 Video Game Magazine and rightfully so.

Also the new covers that take up front and back are sweet as hell.

Yes, I am a subscriber because it comes with the GameStop Edge card, but the magazine isn't bad at all. It makes paying for the card worth it because you get to see the previews for upcoming games, sometimes before they are on the net. I think they can claim to be the #1 game mag because EGM is long gone now. The wraparound covers were a great idea, they should have done them years ago. I would've dug having a wraparound cover when they had put the Aliens: Colonial Marines game on the cover a few years ago.

You know Gamestop owns Game Informer right? lol but yeah, oh and I love when you call support for edge card issues in Canada and they always say well don't forget about ther Game Informer subscription and we're always have to remind them we don't have that with the Edge card in Canada.

Speaking of which how much is the Edge card in the States, how long is it good for and how long of a GI subscription do you get with the purchase?

Year Subscription for 15 dollars I believe and the Edge card is free. Probably the best deal in the Gaming world haha.

Also I actually had no idea that Gamestop owned Gameinformer. Was it always like that cause looking at it now the names make it seem super obvious.

They didnt create it no. But they have owned it for quite a few years now. But yeah it is kinda obvious when you flip through with all the ads and what not.

$15 huh, thats not bad. I knew it was more expensive there, but again because of the subscription. Prior to the EB and Gamestop merger EB owned a magazine called GMR which we offered a 3 month subscription with the Edge card which was good for a year for only $5. The magazine sucked though. After that the card was just $5 for the year. When the merger happened, Gamestop replaced there loyalty card with the Edge card (since it was basically the same idea) and offered the GI subscription but we were under the belief it was only a 3 or 6 month subscription. There has been talk about adding it to the Canadian card too, but we had a lot of issues with the GMR when we did it that the Canadian home office has managed to convince the US that its not a good idea for Canada yet. But we now sell the GI mags in the stores and they sell fairly well.

Yea its deff something they should pick up on because I mean there's alot of discount cards you can buy out there but Gamestop has 1 the best. I mean most magazine subscriptions are 20-30 bucks anyways and you get the magazine that's all so to get that and the Edge card makes it a deal you can't pass up even if you tried. Everytime mine runs out and I'm in gamestop I always seem to get suckered into renewing it but I never regret it.

No, it wasn't always like that. GameStop bought them out in 2001. One thing that currently sucks about GI is that they don't have the Gamestop coupons in them anymore. A few times they had a 15% trade-in coupon in the magazine that could be used with the Edge card. So you'd be getting back an added 20%-25% of a game if you used that coupon. Too bad they don't have offers like that anymore.

I know dude I used to use the crap outta those coupons. We can only hope they'll eventually bring them back. Doubt it though.

I remember GMR. It was a really bad magazine, but the price for the discount card was unbeatable. The bad thing about the merger is the fact that you can find a lot of the same used stock in any Gamestop you go into. There was more diversity with EB Games as a competitor. In my area (New Jersey), GS was selling used NES, SNES & Genesis games until 2004. It was strange to see because my local EB had stopped selling them probably 3 years prior.

Yeah, that's why I got it too. But after my 1 yr was up, I didn't subscribe again. I don't buy as many games as I used to. $60 a game catches up on you after a while.

I used to love GI. I had a subscription from 03-05 and then from 08 till about January this year. I don't like the new layout of it, it seems they've taken away some of the fun stuff, like I remember there not being a Classic GI in the last issue I received when the layout changed, the Mickey Mouse one. It seems like they were trying to make it a "legit" publication, more intellectual than fun, but fun is the essence of gaming. I don't want more interviews with game industry big wigs, I want more fucking lists, codes, photos. It was still fun, but I lost interest in it in a very similar way I did with Maxim when they changed layouts back in like 06 or 07.

my favorite magazine next to Rolling Stone and ESPN
ESPN the mag is garbage. It's basically Sports Illustrated for Kids reincarnated. Be a man, read the Sporting News!

I use to get tons of game magazines when I was a teen but I haven't for a long time because I just check shit on the net.

Those mags were so fucking awesome, though, but it's cheaper to just read the net.

@ Enzo. True its gotten rid of most of the other stuff but I kinda like it that way. When I read a magazine about gaming I want straight facts. If I want a joking review or output I watch X-Play.

@ LH. True but I usually have a few times where I'm in a car bored out of my mind and I read the shit out of Game Informer. Thats what Magazines are for.
