UFC veteran Gabriel Gonzaga is not done fighting. MMAJunkie has reported that Gonzaga will return to action against Josh Barnes at MMA Explosions ‘MMAX: Heavyweight Xplosion on June 25.
After receiving his release from the UFC last October, Gonzaga said he would only compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. However, recently news broke that Gonzaga would face Parker Porter for Reality Fighting in September.
Gonzaga won his first-four fights in the UFC. His run was highlighted by a head-kick knockout of Mirko “Cro Cop†Filipovic, which earned him a shot at then-champion Randy Couture. Since falling short in the title fight, Gonzaga went 3-4 in the promotion and was released.
Barnes is currently 6-5. He has fought for both Bellator and Elite XC. He has faced Dave Herman and Travis Wiuff.
